cnc's studio... (for Dimperdoo)

Cleaned things up a bit and decided to take a few pics...

What you're looking at is pretty much where I do all my graphic work as well as music...

- ProTools LE
- Cheap Ibanez Bass
- Taylor (acoustic)
- Early '90's G&L Legacy - all original parts but I did some custom work to the frets, nut and did some extensive adjustments to the hardware...
- I use some plugin effects via ProTools just to make editing a bit easier but as you can see I've got a few stomp boxes as well. I pretty much use ElectroHarmonix exclusively but I do also have a sweet FullTone Distortion Pro that I paid WAY too much for (not pictured)...
- The piano is a Korg sp200. Not a real High end piece as far as bells and whistles but what it does do it does very well and the weighting on the keys is awesome!
- The gem of the whole thing is my amp though. It’s an all original 1965 Fender "Deluxe Reverb-Amp". This particular one was made just after CBS bought Fender but was before they started changing things so it’s the real deal so to speak. THIS is the amp that they released as a Vintage reissue a few years back. The history of this amp is tremendous and the list of artist that recorded and traveled with this baby is a virtual who's who; the Beatles used one of these in recording Abbey Road just to name one... Anyway, I scored this thing in a once in a life time deal and the story that goes along with that is amazing just in it self but I'll not get into it here... I will say however this one is in mint condition - the only sign of use is on the front where there is a 1/4" tear but you wouldnt notice it unless I pointed it out.
- All the recording stuff is wired with Mogami cables and the main mic I use for the amp is a Road NTK.

There are a few other things around but this is most of it...

Re: cnc's studio... (for Dimperdoo)

I thought about posting a picture of my workstation -and saying "would this be the inverse of cleaning things up a bit?" But, it is just too messy (maybe I should clean it up a bit)

Hey, that looks pretty cool. That amp is, in fact, something to be proud of.

I'm only just starting to think about using nicer cords (like mogami) I picked up monster cables for the short connectors on my rack. Then I got a monster cable for a guitar cord. I'm not too happy with it - I get a lot of noise and even feedback. I can, however, notice the superiority of the sound quality - it's like something might be wrong though. (short or something) I've been of the "a cord is a cord" mindset for years - but, I've also never been too happy with the sound quality I get.

I'm doing this all behringer thing. The V-amp and the Bass V-amp for gtr processors, the 1602 line mixer, a 500 watt behringer power amp. For now, I'm using some KLH speakers for monitors. However, my 1st next move with that is: another of the same power amp, a crossover, and a behringer bass cabinet for the sub. Once I'm past that, I'll upgrade the monitors to behringeer stage monitors (or guitar cabs) most my gtrs are budget ibanezs (though my destroyer is pretty nice) My bass is a neck thru ESP. The funny part is; I'm really a drummer. The electronic kit is Yamaha DTXpress3 - my Tama acoustic set is out in the shop.

If you want to know the truth, I envy the clean setup you have. I'm not set up good to record on the PC (I run audacity freeware) I'd love to run pro tools or ableton live5. My thing is I wanted to be equipped to perform. It's looking like my son will do more of that than me. -

Very nice set-up! When I saw the picture, I did a doubletake because your keyboard looks very familiar: the boyfriend has one that looks almost identical, except he's got a double keyboard (is that what you'd call it? two rows of keys -- can you tell I'm no musician?). He's a drummer, but he also composes: graduated from the Berklee School of Music, teaches at State U in our town. He too has his computer with ProTools and such next to the keyboard, with the drums on the other side of his "office." He only WISHES his was so clean!

My brother is also a musician, a guitarist mostly. He has a nice set-up too, along with a number of sweet Rickenbackers.

And the story of that amp is amazing -- very cool thing to have! My brother would be green with envy!

Anyway, hope you don't mind the random admiration of someone who loves music, but really can't play a note herself. So when are you and Dimperdoo going to compose the ChipTalk anthem?

Thank you for the reply...

Umm as for the anthem, I don’t know, I never considered it. I think it would be pretty difficult to come up with something that would cross all the boundaries of personalities we have here. I'm a blues/metal guy when it comes to my own personal composing - I have a feeling that doesn’t really follow suit with the majority of people here.

Anyway, thanks again for the reply!
