To make this page pleasing to the eye, we need "something" on it.

Let me post a few things in it and you ask Jim to look and tell us if it's ok.
Let's get people who have some chips made by them (personal and casino) post pics we can use. (Including any CJ H&C's)

Check out the little bit I put in the middle.. the one with Bugsy's chips. That's kinda what I'm talking about.

I also used the Factory to save an example of each of the current molds. That's not going to work too well because they are too small and they are too compressed.

What if we asked permission from a collector and just interspersed various old and new Burt/ASM chips with a small caption beneath? Not really following the article content, but gives the reader something to glance at as the y go along.. typing their mind back to who it is they are reading.

Question Re: Interview with Jim Blanchard of Atlantic Standard Molding by SugarV

I'm still having trouble with the format as an interview. Let's try a couple of sample ways to do it differently, and folks comment on them:

Original:

Being in the Auto business, have you brought any of the "Auto business" into poker chips?
Jim Blanchard: Not really, I don't see much of a connection. What attracted me to this business was this uniqueness. When we had an opportunity to buy this business, most people never knew it existed here in Maine. I grew up in Portland, and I didn't know it was here and it was a mile from my house (laughs). It was a fairly unique business, and fairly secretive.
With it being this lost secret, how many people are in the actual factory?
Jim Blanchard: Well, we have two locations. In the principle manufacturing location, there are probably ten people.
So it's really more like a mom and pop business.
Jim Blanchard: Yeah, it's a small operation. We also have some people working in Canada at our place up there. Then we have a retail store at a different location, and we've got some people working there. Actually manufacturing, maybe ten people.
Has the company always been this secluded?
Jim Blanchard: It's always been in Maine, in Portland Maine since 1913.

2 (Interview format with colored names:

SugarV: Being in the Auto business, have you brought any of the "Auto business" into poker chips?

4 (Separated the Q's and A's, and made the text gray:

SV: Has the company always been this secluded?

JB: It's always been in Maine, in Portland Maine since 1913.

5 (Original format, just made the questions stand out more. Also put Jim's answers in italics):

Being in the Auto business, have you brought any of the "Auto business" into poker chips?
Jim Blanchard: Not really, I don't see much of a connection. What attracted me to this business was this uniqueness. Or maybe a combination of one or more of those styles?

Unbiased by the awe of the content, Vera says she votes for #2 and #5.

Re: Interview with Jim Blanchard of Atlantic Standard Molding by SugarV

I'm a big fan of #5.

This is going to be one of the highlights of CT!

I've got high quality scans of the 1st. edition California Club chips that ASM (Burt co.) did. Let me know if you want them for this.... I'd be happy to provide, so long as I don't have to host them (hosting may change in a year or so for me... so I don't want to have them disappear from a great article).

Post it! We can host it, or you can put it on picassa or imageshack. If not, just reply with it and someone else can post it up.

I like # 3. I have samples of the circlesquare, roman, h-mold and FDL I could scan and post for you.

These were most likely from the original opening in 1946. There's a very rare $25 that I'd love to have....

I vote for #2, all the way...

Here's some pics of the extras of my current set of ASM's.
