My Grandpa taught me a game that we used to play a lot. It could build some nice pots. We called it '2 out of 3'. It was basic 7 card stud. You had high spade in the hole, low spade in the hole, and best hand. You had to win 2 out of those 3 to win the pot.

If no one won 2 out of 3, you re-anted and started again. The catch was, once you folded, you were out for good. If no one won the pot, you couldn't get back in, so almost no one ever dropped always hoping for the split and a new hand.

The most beautiful sight, and it's only happened to me once, is looking down and seeing A2 of spades in the hole. Max bet and raise all the way to the end!

i like the two out three concept - thats crazy i've never heard of anything like that before.

A few months ago we played a HORSE tournament. Holdem first level, Omaha 2nd leve, Raz 3rd level, 7 card stud 8 or lower hi/lo. that was actually pretty fun.

Just learned a new game this weekend: Rushnick, this is a high/low game, max 10 players

Start with 4 cards in hand- You will only use two of them

Community cards are laid out like this

XX XX
XXXX
XX XX

Your best 5 card hand is made by using 2 from your hand, 1 pair of corner cards (2+2=4) and only 1 of the middle cards (2+2+1=5)

Prgressive betting (meaning it rotates around the table) 1st bet on your hand, then flip one pair of corner cards then bet, then flip over another corner and bet again, do this until all corners are shown; declare high/low, then the middle cards are flipped, last round of betting before the showdown.

Lots of fun with big twists and turns after flipping up the middle cards!!

Re: Crazy Home Games?

If you want a crazy game here is one for you. It is a variation of guts, but me and my friends will play it with 5 cards instead of two. Obviously best five card hand wins. Also we deal a kill hand, which is another 5 card hand dealt face down in the middle of the table. If only one player holds they have to beat the kill hand and if they don't they match the pot. One night I saw trips get beat by the kill hand's bigger set of trips, and a few hands later the same guy lost when his full boat lost to a bigger one from the kill hand. That pot got up well over $100.

Re: Crazy Home Games?

a very simple game that we play is call 7s....

everyone ante's

everyone is dealth 7 cards face down (you cant look)

then one card is dealt face up. the key of the game game is to get the best hand, without flipping up a 7. the person to the left of the dealer has to beat that face up card.

IE: 8 on the open, the player has to get a card higher then 8. (but he cant look at his cards, he just flips one over)

here is a example of the game.

Player 1 is dealer, and deals 7 cards, then flips up a
5.

Player 2 flips up the first card, it is a

Player 3 flips up his cards. it is a , he still needs to beat the 6, so he flips up another card. , and another . Player 3 now has a pair of 3s with a 4 kicker.

player 4 - , 2nd card, , 3rd card . Player 4 has now bust out.

and it goes on till everyone but one person bust out, or the best 5 card hand wins.

very simple.

Re: Crazy Home Games?

I used to play a game we called 7 card no peek.

everyone is delt 4 cards face up
round of betting
everyone is delt a card face down and you can't look
round of betting
another card face down can't look
round of betting
another card face down can't look
round of betting
everyone left in the hand flips their 3 cards up best 5 card hand wins.

Re: Crazy Home Games?

I am loving these old threads popping up!!!

Ahh memories!

We played some micro limit with change couple of weeks ago and only played 1 card pass the trash, Anaconda, and Indian Poker!

I lost a buck and half, and my sides hurt the next day from so much laughing!!!

Nothing like throwing a game of crap poker in the mix once and a while!
