Chips: 2,214 | | | Seems like a fun distraction for a game of dealer call it as long as there are VERY few other similar games played. |

Chips: 1,555 | | | Hey Ten - last month I found your guide on the variations on poker games and found this game and tried it. I loved it!
Took a while to get my group used to it but after a couple of hands they liked it. I guess I benefited the most as the ugly card killed a few of my opponents who had hit the Good card earlier.
Always fun to try new games. |

... though I may have to give it a try in the DC game I play especially since one guy almost always calls red/blk or 7/27

Always fun to try new games. | I haven't played dealer's choice in SOOO long since the holdem craze hit. But when we did, this one was a definite favorite.
It's funny too, all the holdem variations were thought of as "crazy" games too, and the serious players wanted to play 7-stud and 5-stud only.

Chips: 216 | | | We usually dont play wild card games in my cash game but once in a while one pops up, this looks like it would be a pretty fun game as long as you are not the foldee. |

Chips: 29,466 | | Last night, for a change of pace in a fun friendly game we played dealer's choice. It gave us a chance to learn and practice some new poker games. Stuff like Omaha, Omaha 8, 7-2 triple draw, Chicago, Pineapple, Razz, draw, stud, blind man's bluff, Montanna Red Dog, and any kind of crazy wildcard game the dealer could dream up.
I called Good Bad & Ugly a few times to try it out. It was not as popular as some of the other games (nobody else ever called it). We were playing pretty loose, but GB&U never got much action. It was OK, but Pineapple seemed to be the crowd favorite.
On a side note, this was the first game where we really put the Egyptians octagons and plaques into play. Everybody really enjoyed shuffling the octagons. A large stack of plaques provoked much plaque envy.

Chips: 24 | | | I've played this game often with a group of friends (dime-quarter cash game, emphasis on fun with a lot of wild-card games). As far as wild-card games go, it's one of the more interesting I've played. I've been on both sides of the ugly; it never fails that the high hand gets killed and someone lucks into the pot.
Never used the "whistle the song" method of announcing the game. . .I'll have to try that at the next get-together.
This same group is slowly starting to shift to hold 'em with my subtle but insistent persuasion. One of the players is not a big hold 'em fan, so we will play the wild-card games after one or two NLHE tourneys to appease him. Whatever it takes to get the fish biting. . .
[EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think we first started playing this game after I read about it on Ten's poker listings, way back in the day.] | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
