Chips: 305 | | | New Hold 'em game being tested in Vegas I was at the Ho Chunk casino today, and one guy was describing a new version of hold 'em in Vegas.
I think he said it was being called Royal Hold 'em.
6 players at the table, no cards in the deck below a 10.
Three down cards and only the flop and turn.
He said that four of a kind was no guarantee of winning, and there were huge pots for every hand.

When it first came out it was just among the regular hold'em games, but marked Royal not very noticably. People kept making posts on forums saying how they got this "great run of cards" before they realized what was up.

He said that four of a kind was no guarantee of winning, and there were huge pots for every hand. | Without doing any math, I'm going to speculate that straights and flushes are going to be much more common, so hands like AA and KK are less likely to win than in normal HE, while AKs and KQs will be much more valuable... until the board pairs, of course.
An Ontarian would have a distinct advantage at this game. From all our childhood years of playing Euchre (usually with a 24-card deck containing 9's and up), we're desensitized to those sorts of hands... |

One of my uncles lost 10 grand on a hand when his quad kings beat quad tens, but lost to quad aces. DOH! Oh and the straight is a higher hand than a flush. |
