9-Card Omaha

So I was watching the show, I Bet You, with Antonio and Phil Laak, and one of the bets they would make would be to play a game they called "9 card omaha". I'm not sure if they made it up or what, but I thought I'd pass it on.

Basically they used it to settle bets or disputes and played it without chips, with a showdown determining the winner. Some friends and I tried it for a little while and realized that it would be quite a game if betting was involved. As is they game is played like PLO with the high hand winning and the 2 hole cards, 3 board cards rule. Here goes.

Each player (usually 2, but can fit up to 5) is dealt 9 cards face down. Next, everyone discards 2 cards, then the flop is burned and turned. 2 more discards follow, then burn and turn card. Lastly, one more card is thrown awy before the river is dealt, leaving each person with 4 cards to make an omaha hand.

Now betting rounds can be added before each action to spice things up, and if you're REALLY adventurous, you could play it HI/LO...

Let me know what you think.

Re: 9-Card Omaha

Sounds like Crazy Pineapple Omaha on steroids!
