I like it and think it has potential for a fun side game on Hold'em night especially when we are short handed between HE games.

Can someone help clear up some confusion for me though. Using the 2-4 point system where does the 4 point come in. A player gets + or - 2 points for each of the three hands created depending if he/she wins/loses a hand (potential of 6 pts per hand). If they win all three hands are 4 points awarded as a "bonus"?
If I'm totally out in left field maybe someone can just explain the points and how they are awarded.
My take on the 2/4 method is:
if you win two of the three hands you get 2 points
if you win all three you get 4 points

for 1/6
you get 1 point per hand you win plus 3 points if you win all three
so that if you win two of the three you get 1 point (2 wins - 1 lose)
if you get all three hands 6 points (3 wins + 3 bonus for the scoop)

I will be trying to put together a rule card for my home game to keep it all clear.
I'm thinking we'll play for a quarter a point.

Re: Chinese Poker another short handed alternative

I have a Word doc that has all the rules and bonuses that we will be using this weekend.

If any one wants a copy, shoot me a PM with your eMail address and I'll send it along.

Thanks.

Re: Chinese Poker another short handed alternative

I started a game this weekend and it went well, instead of keeping points we payed the winner of each hand, sometimes it made for a lot of chip swapping, but overall it wasn't bad. I also didn't do a bonus.

That is why Greenstein and those other high rollers play it while waiting for the fish to show up.

Re: Chinese Poker another short handed alternative

My group loves Chinese Poker. Quick question though,

For those who play with bonus points for special hands:

If you have three flushes or three straights, I know the back has to be higher than the middle. However does the front have to be higher than middle? Example:

K high flush in the back. 9 high flush in the middle. Front is A87s for a three card "flush". Does it play as A-high outranks 9-high?

Not the way we play. In that case, you would rearrange your hands and set them differently. So, A high in the back, K high in the middle, and 9 high in the front.

As far as having / getting paid a bonus on 3 flushes, we don't pay a bonus for that.

Re: Chinese Poker another short handed alternative

My friends and I just played a bunch of CP last night. We were only playing pairs and high card on the 3-card hand. We only paid bonuses if you swept all three hands. We weren't sure if we were playing it right, but we had tons of fun.

Re: Chinese Poker another short handed alternative

A lot of times, your top hand is just that. High hard. Ace high, possibly a pair. If you were playing for a bonus point for a sweep, then yes, that's common. THe other bonus points we do are quads or better in the middle hand or bottom hand.
