I don't even want to imagine the hold up the breasts would cause to the game. Although if people are running bad or not playing their 'A' game they might have some troubles standing up and walking away from the table.
I don't mean to sound like a prude, but really look at your cards and decide if you're in or out preflop. Then finish your conversation.
On topic, do what the mayor of Vegas tried doing once. (I think i read it in an article) In a cash game, anyone down money can't leave the game. Not sure how that would work, but would suck to be the guy down on your luck.

Got to play in a home game Friday night. It was 25¢ to $2 for the small bet and 50¢ to $4 spread limit for the big bet - dealers choice. The choice button went around the table and the person choosing would deal for a full round of deals. While I was there we played Omaha Hi/Lo and 2 rounds of 7 card stud Hi/Lo. I won all of $3. I was up a lot more after a O8 wheel scoop and large Sutd Hi/Lo half pot but made a couple misreads of one player and folded a winner and chased two losers. Had to leave early to relieve a babysitter Any night I get to play live poker is a great night these days. |

Our card club has tried alternating rounds of Limit Hold 'em, Omaha and 7-card Stud with NL Hold 'em, but for the most part everybody just wants to play Hold 'em. It's kind of a drag because a few of us like to get steady practice in other games, but the majority are just interested in NL Hold 'em. Such is the nature of a craze. |

Fd | Amen, FD!!!!!!! I get extremely annoyed when people are just chit-chatting about crap. I can deal with it slightly better in a cash game, but tourney style, when the blinds timer is tickin' away, I'd like people to just shut up and play. Not to be sexist or to stereotype, but more often than not, it seems to be the women at the table that do this. Having said that, one friend of mine just talks a lot in general, and doesn't make any efforts to curb the behavior if a poker game breaks out.
On topic, we don't really do a lot of variations. The vast majority of our group of friends are very much creatures of habit and doing what's always been done. We've talked about trying some different games, but for several of the players, it would require learning the game and they're just not usually interested.

my uncles got me hooked on poker long long ago, way before the poker boom, they started me out playing dealers choice, usually 5 card draw JOB, Lowball and dueces wild, And 7 Card Stud. they got me started at about 8 years old, and i always freaked out the teachers after christmas break when they asked what we did and id say how much i won or lost playing poker lol. now 10 years later noone knows how to host a good poker night in my circle of friends, and all we play is holdem...talk about a lack of variety |

Each person is dealt 1 card. He must pick up the card without looking at it and stick it in his hat, so that everyone else can see it. Then there's a round of betting and anyone that did not fold show their cards and the highest wins.
So basically you can see everyone elses cards but not your own. It's all about bluffing and reading other people's responses to seeing your card! |

Chips: 20 | | | Re: New ideas for home games? I am in the second year of hosting tourneys in my garage and we play every six weeks or so (8-18 players). When ever we have add-ons or re-buys we add a payout to the highest losing hand of the tournament. So if your king high flush loses to an ace high flush then you write your name and losing hand on the white board. At the end of the tournament the highest losing hand will win a predetermined amount of money, usually $20. We also have tournaments with bounties. I am going to try a limit 7 stud tourney this year as well. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
