This thread will give you a lot of the info regarding which chips accept labels, most will accommodate a 1" label. My personal preference is the Nexgen 8000 series. They feel good for plastic, look good for plastic, and have nice colour combinations.
People are labelling their ASM horseheads, many from the recent group buy. They have a minor recess that will accept a high quality (read: THIN) label. To me, there is nothing that compares except a full custom inlay itself!
I remember when you were designing your superhero chips and now I see it in your avatar. Are they done? I don't see them in the custom chip pics forum.
I also don't remember if you were going with labels or you actually ordered the custom inlay. If you got the labels, what is your report on the spinnies?
Those are just mocks; they actually just called me today to say they screwed up on both of the NCV chips and will "probably" be shipping the rest to me tomorrow with the NCVs to follow. Though they said "probably" friday, and if not friday, then "probably" monday on the entire order, I'm not listening to them. If it does take much longer than tomorrow to ship I'm going to have a conversation with them about bullshitting the customers with completion dates.
