Good news, bad news, then good news and possibly more good news.
If you saw my other thread, you know that I finished my design for custom chips. The only thing left to do was to order them. I wasn't sure who to go with to have these made. Chipco or Nevada Jack. I made a little pro/con chart to help my decision.
Chipco pros:
great quality
clear graphics
complete custom edge options
Chipco cons:
small color chart-this was a big deal to me
price-roughly 50% more when all is said and done after artwork fees
lead time-not that big of a deal
NJ pros:
no color limitations
turn around time-less then a week, or free shipping
cost-no additional fees, with provided artwork, you pay per chip fee+shipping only
texture of chip-I happen to like it, but I will list it as a con also, becuase I know some don't
NJ cons:
texture :P
graphics are a little blurry due to finish
can't do "floating" design on edges. Meaning any custom edge design must go from one side to another. For example the top edge design here can't be done by NJ's because of the centered circles. It has to be something like the bottom design.

This was a major bummer for me if I decided to use NJ because I liked the edges I had designed.Another downside to NJ's is with the exception of the testimonies on thier website, I don't know of anyone that has had customs made by them.
After going over all of these things, I decided to be the guinea pig and go with Nevada Jacks. Yes the edges bummed me out, but the 50% price jump to Chipcos and the fact that my chips would have to be reworked to match their color pallette bummed me out even more.
good news-My designs are done and my chips are ordered
bad news-I had to rework the edges on some chips because NJ's couldn't do the original design
good news-the colors will match the original design
possible good new-my custom NJ's will be here by next wednesday and I will have pictures of them that day. I will do a review of them if Ten wants me to, and at least those of you ordering American beauties will know what to expect.
Here is the final design of the denoms that I purchased. the .25 and $1's I will add on to the set at a later date. This is strictly a tourney set.
