I am trying to come up with my design for a set of PC.com horsehead chips with edge spots. The question I can not decide on is should I have one design with denoms, 4/5 different designs with denoms.

We have narrowed it down to 4 themes from our hobbies, loves and labors...

Our home business (Knifes)
African big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, cape buffalo)
Ships (dingy to a schooner)
labrador retrievers (Black Dog Saloon)

Suggestions are appreciated, who thought this would require so much thought. I probably should as my wife suggested jsut buy some chips from one of the group buys...

It depends on the design of course, but I don't usually care for sets with different inlays. It can make the set look mismatched if you aren't careful. Ten's Pharaoh's are an example of the opposite, however. That set fits together nicely. The key, I suppose, is having enough commonality in each inlay to make the set look like a "set." That being said, keep in mind that on the ASM inlay you are only working with a 3/4" printable area, so you will need to keep the design fairly clean. The African thing could look intereting, or could be corny. ASM probably isn't the best choice for that set (too many limitations on design area and color choice.) You probably will be happiest in the long run with a set with a nice clean inlay design. Take your time and find images that look good, especailly shrunken down (nothing too intricate.) Good luck on the design.

Of those schemes:

a) I don't think you'll have enough realestate on the HH mold to put much of a ship picture there...
b) Personally, I'm just not a big fan of dogs on chips. But they might go well with a "dogs playing poker" picture on the wall. "Black Dog Saloon" does have a nice ring to it, though.
c) Knives? I don't know what you could come up with for graphics for knives... I'm not a fan of weapons on the chips.... check your weapons at the door. I'm afraid it might put too much of an "edge" on a friendly home game. (OK, I admit that was a really bad pun.)
d) That leaves the African animals. I like 'em. "I'll see your rino, and raise you two cape buffalos." Sounds like fun. You could use chickens and pigs for the low denoms. They'd go well with a horsehead mold, too.

The ASM is my chip of choice and with the trouble i am having I need less choices not more as the Chipco offers..

Today I tried to get a ship on a 3/4 inlay and it is very very small for a three masted schooner... maybe a row boat. But I will probably keep trying..

The Buss chips could be wrote off, and was simply going to be the companys name with a denom.

The African animals is doable with a pen and ink drawing converted.. and would I pick the Ele or Cape Bufflo. My favorite two game animals to read about..

After looking at the Pharaoh's I see what you mean it would be hard with my limited skills to make them have that unity..

Guess I will keep looking and pasting cutting to chip samples..

Call it the zebra-head mold, and tell people it was custom for your set...
