Chips: 579 | | | Help design a chip (please) I want to do a custom set and I think that I will have to go ceramic. I would like to rip off this MGM Grand chip
and use this as the center image
Also replacing the two reverse images near the base of the chip and dropping the $ from denoms to make a more versitile set. I think 4 denoms
25
100
500
1000
for use in cash games and tourneys (maybe 3 and skip the 1000)
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as I am seriously design challenged.
Colors? (preference, I know)
Edge spots? (two, three, four, blank, text?)
Fake casino name?
Inner text?
Thanks for any input. |

Serously though, any suggestions or help with the chip(s)?
Is it just me or does that MGM chip look sweet!?
I would be willing to pay someone for submittable artwork. |

Chips: 6,503 | | I like the MGM edgespot design once you remove those inverted images, and while you could probably get away with leaving out the casino name on the edge, I think you have to have some kind of text in the inlay. I like the idea of some sort of Tournament classification, but that is because the home games I play in are all tournament style.
With the edgespot design I would be tempted to vary it for each denom.
For example, assuming you did not want the MGM Grand on the edge you could use just two of the 5 edgespot waves shown on the chip, using the same placement. This could be your 100 denom and your 25 could have no edgespot waves. Then for your 500 denom, maybe go with three edgespot waves but now they are placed 3 times around the edge, and your 1000 chip could have 4 of these waves placed at 4 spots around the edge.
For colours, I would go non-traditional since you are looking at a 4 chip set but like you said, it is all preference. I think I would include a white/grey, purple/pink, orange/yellow, and a black/blue but that is just me.

Thanks for any input. | Ok, here goes:
Colors - I like the defacto standard ones. I would go with green 25s, black 100s, purple 500s, and orange/yellow 1000s.
Edge Spots - With ceramics you wont be able to line them up so it's best to steer away from a design that will look bad because of this. For this chip I would suggest a "quarters" layout (rolling edge is 4 equally sized bands of color alternating between the chip base color and some other color from the chip face).
Casino Name - Anything goes here but since you have an eagle for your graphic maybe it could be "Eagle's Nest" or something to that effect.
Inner Text - Since you're from Mesa then why not use that as the location. Perhaps you could use "Casino and Resort, Mesa AZ" or something along those lines

Chips: 1,035 | | | that MGM chip is premium custom, and would cost a ton to replicate the style. You probably know tha. I'm thinking the semantics here would be a face design which is not contiguous w/ the edge - then an edge spot design which is complimentary. You could really just vary the color of the eagles head design to represent your chip color, then match font color (possibly in a ring around your center) and then the tricky part -because same color edge spots would be kinda dry -maybe the rolling edge would be the graphic/font colr with acomplimentary edge spots.
if you wanted an apparent match with the face design and edge spots, one "trick" is to have 4 spokes on the face and 8 edge spots - creating more potential for coincidental apparent matching/alternating, etc... |

Chips: 579 | | | help Yes I have. I will post mock-ups as they become available.
Does anyone have links to other of the Bud Jones MGM chip denominations (other than the $5?) I can't seem to find pics of them anywhere.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. They are all good points. |
