Who would make your customs?

I have a problem. I want a custom set, but I can't decide who I should have make them. If I could order directly from the gpigaming catalog it wouldn't be an issue, but I'm sure most of you have had that same dream.

Here are my downsides to each company

Homepokerchips.com - None really other than the fact that I have a large set of "Suits" already and kind of want clay.

Pokerchips.com - Why can't I get different edge spots? Even with that problem I still want a set everytime I see Spacemonkey's chips!

TR King - Custom inlay and varied edge spots = $$$$

I just don't consider Blue Chip to be an option for a small single order.

Well, you know how I voted.

Aside from the $$, I just don't care for the TRKings much personally. Don't know why, really. And you don't want more ChipCo's, so that leaves PCOL.

While I would love more spot options from them, I am certainly loving my chips. It's not a huge factor for me. Plus it was hard enough deciding on color combos as it is. I can't even image what more spot layouts and mutli-spot combos would do to me!

I plan on getting a custom set sometime end of this year or beginning of next year. The deciding factor is really want do I want inlay to look like. For a very rich graphic look, ChipCo/Homepokerchips all the way. For a more traditional look, PC.com all the way. TRKing would probably only be an option if I decide to do a mini-group buy in order to get the price down but that lessens the whole custom idea slightly.

My gut vote says ChipCo, much more freedom in the design.

why don't you consider Blue Chip. I'm going to be going through them. And I think it will be by far the best option. (Although I'm big on colors and edgespots).

The QC issues really aren't that big a deal.

The only reason it won't be an option is if you are buying less than 1k chips. Because you have the $250 in art charges. But if you are buying this few chips TRKing will charge you something like 1.50 per chip. So even then its a toss up.

In the last year I have only read of one person ordering a personal set of customs from Blue Chip. Search the 2+2 archives for username italianstang and read about his order process. (If I have more time I'll find a link later.) I would love to hear something good about them. I hope your order goes smoothly. Keep us posted.

Even though I boughht chipcos (and love them) I voted pc.com.

If you have a bunch of chipcos, then these need to be clay. Unless you just don't like clay for some reason

Oh, and think about no edge spots with a mostly black inlay (see the thread on the Matsui no edge spot chips). These look great, and will solve the edge spot problem.

Here is what I am thinking. I like clays much better than ceramics so that only leaves 2 choices in your poll. The only other real choice is Blue Chip and I really wouldn't consider them anyway because of QC issues.

I want something that is really unique for 2 reasons 1) security and 2) it's just cool to have chips that no one else has or can get.

I really like the samples that I have gotten from both PC.com and TR King. There are negatives to both. I am sure that others may have different opinions of which issues are most important to them, but for me, I really like the variation in edge spots.

Here is my plan: I will a) wait for someone to do a small limited group buy TR Kings (not to be later sold by a retailer) or b) do one myself, TR Kings

Note: If ASM ever relents to allowing varying edge spots, I would buy a set of these too.

At one point he actually had a day by day breakdown of his whole ordeal. It was posted on his personal webspace and no longer exists. I wish it was still available. He had even gone as far as driving to Vegas (he lived in So Cal) and meeting Dave Endy face to face to try and move things along.
