Custom ASM's

Ok here it goes.. I have decided to finally order a custom set of chips 1000 from PC.com, but I need your help guys..

My initial idea is to use the roman border and have the inscription:
OK cardclub (on top)
Norway (low)
with the following denom's 1,5,10,25,100,500,1000

colors, 1 white (no edge spots) 5 red (no edge spots) 10 (blue) no edge spots, 25 green (dg orange edge spots), 100 black (dg green edgespots) 500 purple (grey edge spots) , 1000 yellow (pink edgespots)

the theme is cards (know its a bit boring) so ideas will be appreaciated, made a initial designs with norse mythology, but don't know if I'd like it.. will post pics of some of my ideas..

thinking of having different designs on both sides, back of the cards on one side and holdem starting hands on the second, from rags to premium starting hands

1 qj
5 k10
10 A8s
25 55
100 ak
500 kk
1000 aa

some comments please..

I believe you have the ranking of the hands wrong. Here's the order in my book:

AA = #1
KK = #2
AK = #11
A8s = #24
QJ = #35
KT = #45
55 = #46

But I would prefer to use the top rank hands only and loose the $10 chip. Perhaps something like this? -->

$1000 = AA
$500 = KK
$100 = QQ
$25 = AKs
$5 = JJ
$1 = AQs

or if you want to keep the $10 chip -->

$1000 = AA
$500 = KK
$100 = QQ
$25 = AKs
$10 = JJ
$5 = AQs
$1 = KQs

But I'm not so sure it's a good idea. I would suggest you make some graphic examples before you make up your mind. I realize that the numbers above are theoretical no-fold'em rankings. It is true that hands can be stronger or weaker in practice. Maybe I would prefer:

$1000 = AA
$500 = KK
$100 = AKs
$25 = QQ
$10 = AK
$5 = JJ
$1 = TT

or

$1000 = AA
$500 = KK
$100 = QQ
$25 = AKs
$10 = AK
$5 = JJ
$1 = TT

some reasoning for why these starting hands..
1 qjo hate this hand, don't play it unless im bb or headsup, (or when it doesen't matter which hand I play aka the big bluff) thats why this is on the 1$ , could have been 72o

5 k10o no reason for this, could be any two cards, just made it to look better than qj
10 A8s (spades) this hand I chose since its the dead mans hand. We play 100-200$ freezouts, starting with 1000 in chips blinds starting on 5-10, then 10-20 25-50 etc.. thats why it is sensible to use a 10$ chip
25 55 could be any pocket, incl qq just want some low cards as well, not only higher cards... maybe I go for 77 .. don't know
100 ak must have big slick, looks better imo than qq and have 3 pockets already.. which is enough.
500 kk cowboys, well.. its a pretty nice hand
1000 aa rockets, they must be on the highest denom..

usually we play 7-10 starting with 1000 in chips, freezouts
sometimes we are up to 20-25 people, with rebuy and addon, which make the higher denoms neccessary, and Im a chip geek that likes a lot of different denoms..

but thank you for replying.. more please..

some other thoughts..

will only use different cards, which limits the use of aces and kings.. could be like a 7handed set of cards (man Im addicted to poker)

with the setup I have chosen so far this is possible..

red aces, like teddy kgb
kings spade and diamond,
aks clubs
77 diamond and club
a8 suited spades, dead mans hand
k10s heart
qjo queen of heart j of spades

realize that this could take some time.. hmm does anyone knows where to fine small cliparts of all the different cards?? ops:

That should work. Fairly clean and simple layout. But let's see what you were thinking for the Norse theme!

Have you seen DG Orange in person? You may be happier with Green/DG Peach.

I still don't agree that the 10 chip is sensible.

I would say stay away from the DG Orange. It does not look like you think it should.

ok here's my first brave attempt designing chips, this is the norse theme, which I later decided not to go through with.. this is just a first draft. Decided on circle mold, since that was most appropriate to the theme..

also, as the value of the chips increase, the more important is the symbols, the 25 is a jallarhorn, the 100 is the midgard serpent, the 500 is odin's 8(!) legged horse, and the 1000 is odin the norse god with his trusted birds on his shoulders..

note.. im not at all comfertable using the tools needed to design chips, (adobe) so I have to learn by doing.. so things might be a bit off..

anyway here's the pics..

comments please..

made these a while ago, but will make new ones with the new theme..

no $10 chip.

Otherwise, you're on the right track. Simple and clean.

I really like this set of drawings. Or a set with just the Norse gods would be nice too. I don't like your first idea of using cards on the chips.

The $10 would be OK if your limit calls for using them. The Bellagio in Vegas uses $10 chips.
