Chips: 1,845 | | | ASM gut check Yes, another one of these. Just want to see if this breakdown makes sense for my ASM group buy purchase. This will be my cash game set, Pharaoh's will be for tourneys, so I'm not really concerned about versatility. About the only cash game we'll play is $0.25/$0.50 NL or possibly $1/$2, but most guys prefer the NL games. Generally 10 players or less.
150 - solid grey quarters
150 - blue $1
80 - red $5
20 - green $25
That gives me about a $1,000 bank or $500 without the greens. We usually do a $20 max buy, so I'm thinking 12 grey's, 12 blue's, and a red for the initial buy-in. That leaves enough reds for 17 rebuys.
Is there a better distribution I should be looking at? One concern I do have is if we ever decide to raise the stakes, I don't have an abundance of blues or reds. |

Chips: 1,845 | | No real reason I guess. Most of my guys are comfortable playing in the $20 range, but I seem to lose some players if it goes higher than that. Of course, the same guys that don't like the $30 buy-ins also seem to be the same guys that have no problem rebuying 2 or 3 times for $20.
In a cash game though, I probably could up that max. I think I went based on limit thinking of having 20x the BB. In my case, $20 gives you 40x. |

Chips: 107 | | | My cash game is .25/.50 no-limit holdem as well. We also have a $20 max buy-in and anyone can reload when they get below $5. This keeps everyone in their "comfort" level at the start, and no one person can have a huge stack advantage just by buying in for more chips.
I have never had the need to go to $25 chips at this level. I also use a $.50 chip (purple T500 chip from my tourney set) which helps me out if the quarter chips get a little low.
I would recommend dropping the $25 chip in favor or more quarter chips. I know its always nice to have extra chips denoms available, but $25 is way out of range for a .25/.50 game. If you start playing some 1/2 no limit, then you would actually need more $25 chips.
So either none at all, or a lot more on the $25 chip. |

Chips: 14,477 | | | We play a $20 buy in no-limit game but with $0.50 small blind and $1 big blind. My 400 set has 100 - $0.50, 200 - $1, 80 - $5 and 20 - $20 for the $1050 total. A $20 chip has come out once.
We rarely get more than $300 in play. For a $0.25 / $0.50 game - more quarters like you have would be warranted.
Nice breakdown though - should work for you.
Matt

I could back that down to sample size like I'm getting in some of the other random chips just to have. Now I'm thinking maybe get 160 each of the quarters and 1's. That way for a 10 man game, everyone could get 16 of each for the buy-in. Rebuys would be all reds with enough for 20. If I ever do need the 25's, I'll have some from my samples.
