Chips: 29,466 | | | Math Chips? Well, as long as there's nothing to do but wait for the Pharaohs, it seems like time to start thinking about my next chipset....
I'm thinking:
Non-denoms for a cash set. No denoms. No casino name. No text at all. It's OK if they look more like shotglass coasters than traditional chips.
I could go for some plain solid color chips, but it would be nice to have something just a little more interesting, unique, and secure. So I'm thinking custom chipcos. I'll probably end up with 3 or 4 colors.
One idea is to just generate some 3D graphics that are plots of mathmatical functions. (I'm better slinging equations than paintbrushes.)
Here are some samples. I don't really like any of these, but they should give you some examples for the kind of thing that is possible.
Not that anybody would notice or care, but I thought it would be interesting if the functions weren't just some random math function, but were based on something interesting or relevant.
For example:
plot the number of players in the WSOP and their stacksize vs. the level of the blinds
(does anybody have this data?)
plot the probability of AA holding up vs # of callers
plot the temperature distribution in a chip if you heat one edge
plot the streamlines of air blowing over a chip
pick frequencies corresponding to musical notes -- with 2 to 4 chips, I could do the first one or two phrases of Beethoven's 5th. 5 chips could correspond to the notes of that Close Encounters theme...
Ideas? Comments? Suggestions?
I know the whole project may seem stupid at this point, but indulge me.... I've got to do something to pass the time while I'm waiting on the Pharaohs
Besides --- with your help, maybe it will turn into something cool

Chips: 1,513 | | | WOAH......DUDE.....KNARLY....hey is this stuff gonna be on the test. If I win the pot are you gonna give me an F???
Just Kidding. Seriously though I like your Mathematical equations Idea. I teach math to sixth graders!
Why dont you plot the probablity of A high, K high, etc. holding up and see what that looks like. You might get a cool design and there would be a theme! |

green chip: 22 vs 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 callers
Black chip: AK vs vs 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 callers
purple chip: KK vs vs 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 callers
yellow chip: AA vs 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 callers
that would be sweet. how would those look, cap'n? |

I could have a look at plotting the probablity of every possible hand against every other possible hand.... anybody know where I can find that table?

Chips: 684 | | | I'm not sure of the math behind image #2 (top row, on the right) -- perhaps it's generated with fractals -- but the image looks eerily like a human in the embryonic stage of life. |

Chips: 12 | | | I love those last two images. What math function are they from?
Also, not to hijack this thread, but your third image gave me an idea... what about a set of non-denoms with images of planets? Of course getting non-copyrighted, hi-res images might prove difficult. |

When I saw it I thought it looked like someone exhaling a drag from a smoke. But maybe that's just because I quit smoking a week ago and subconsciously want one. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
