Custom Chipco (homepokerchips.com) design. Opinions?

So I'm working on my own design for some homepokerchips.com chips.

I'm undecided between going with their ceramics or perhaps the new Paulson home chips. (Samples ordered, should get them sometime soon.) The initial purchase for either will likely be 1000 chips.

First off, my last name is O'Connell, and (thus) my "symbol" (not like Prince, lol) has been a four leaf clover since I was about 12 years old.

I'm not sure if I will use all of these designs, but decided to make the designs from $5 to $1000 just in case.

I've already decided to make all the edges a solid color with no edge spots. (Like on the $5 chip) so consider that already changed. It will keep them smooth and uncomplicated.

Any opinions? I'm a vetran graphic designer that has moved into a different business, but at times I like to dust off the creative cap and see what comes out.

Thanks for any input and any experiences (good or bad) with www.homepokerchips.com

Well, for my money you can't go wrong with the good folks at HPC.com. They just did my chips (see Checkmate Chips thread in this forum) and I think they look fantastic. Your design is excellent. I think it might be a nice variation to try the same basic layout but use the four leaf clover as a watermark behind the rest of the chip, either as a grey image or a muted version of the chip background color. I bet that would look great, too.

I bet you could help a few others around here out with their designs! Your's looks pretty close to production already, IMO. Very nice, ideed.

I like that design, it's very clean. I prefer the interesting backgrounds of the tiki chips though. Incorporate something like that and these would be awesome.

I like both your ideas...

I've considered making the clover on the "back" (the no name side) a little less prominent, and I was at ends with the plain white section.

I'll play with the larger clover and perhaps try some kind of 'detail" instead of the white and see what comes of it.

I'll also be happy to help some of the other forumites with their designs, so long as no one is in a hurry. I do have a full time job that is NOT design related, but the Mac's I work on are all full tilt graphics machines...

Thanks, keep 'em coming!

Nice start. I think there's too much white on the chips. I would also tend to go with some type of edgespot design, but that's a matter of personal choice.

You will like dealing with the people at hpc.com.

Be aware though, that there is about a $200 surcharge for a two sided chip design. That didn't stop me, though.

Very nice chip design, and I like the suggestion of the "watermark" clover. Also, I would say go for it, a $200 surcharge for double sided isn't that bad in the face of a full custom order... but it's all your choice.

BZ: Great concept, and the only suggestion I would make is using a more Irish style font (some Gaelic influence) for your name O'Connel. Other than that, nice start.
