Colors for higher denoms - Advice wanted
I'm going to be putting together a custom tournament set I am not sure want colors I want for the higher denoms. It seems like all the stock sets out there from every internet merchant uses yellow for 1000, pink for 5000, and orange for 10000.
I've also seen 1,000 in orange. 5,000's grey, and some 10k and 25k chips pink or grey, and 25K also in light blue.
What colors do I assign to 1000, 5000, 10K & 25K with the color choices being yellow, orange, pink, gray, or light blue?
Initially I was thinking yellow = 1000, pink = 5000, orange = 10K, (like the standard sets) & brown, gray, or light blue = 25K. After thinking about it more I might want pink or Lt. blue for 25K, and orange for 1000. So then 5000 could be gray and 10K yellow, or Lt. blue.
I would like to hear what you think.
Thanks.

So are you getting lower denoms too? In what colors?

Yes, the usual. green = 25, black = 100, & purple = 500.

I guess I'd try yellow 1k, orange 5k, lt. blue 10k and pink 25k. But they're your chips.

if you have 1K & 5K you really don't need a 10K. It'd be like having a $5 & $10 at the same time, don't need it. Just go with a 25K for your top denom.

There are no "standards" after 1K, so do whatever you prefer. Choose something dramatic for the higher denoms and make sure it will "POP" when tossed in the pot. The best choice depends on the available colors which depends on manufacturer.

BTW +1 on skipping the 10K.

Totally agree on this one ^^. I've had several tourney sets with 10K chips, and they never saw play -- except as re-buy chips. Not an very efficient denomination.
Most of my sets have an orange $1000 chip; a couple have a yellow $1000.
My personal preference for color combos is either orange 1K with gray 5K, or yellow 1K with pink 5K. I typically don't like orange and pink next to each other, and I'm not that crazy about orange with yellow, either (although the Paulson GCR solid hot-stamps are an exception). A lot of it has to do with the edge spot colors involved, too.
Given your color options (yellow, orange, pink, gray, light blue), I'd go with either:
orange 1K, gray 5K, light blue 25K, or
yellow 1K, pink 5K, light blue 25K.
But there is no real standard, so feel free to use the colors that you like best.

Re: Colors for higher denoms - Adice wanted
As stated above, there is no standard for 1k + chips. However I believe that the most common scenario in Vegas is that 1,000 cash chips are yellow and 1,000 tournament chips are orange. There are obvious exceptions like the WSOP (yellow 1k and Orange 5k) but I still believe this is the most common scenario. The majority of Vegas casinos I have played in have had yellow 1k cash chips.

But then he'll need more chips (2x 5k for every 10k to take out of the set). Using 10k chips is fine if OP has some reason for it.
