Chips: 10,069 | | | Great job... the design's really comming along!
Checkmate's... I like it... simple is better.
I'm a little concerned the wrapped pieces are a little small... difinitely cool though and a nice touch without incurring the xtra art! Wondered if using Checkmate's would allow the wrap to be slightly larger so the pieces could be slightly bigger??
I like the graphic and agree it'd be much better with the king change. I was wondering if the image could be a little smaller and the chess board background perspective could be distorted to give a little depth / 3D look.
I personally don't like the edge denoms... although I thought they were cool at first I didn't like my BPC archtype samples. A big part of the chip is looking at stacks so I might consider other options herebut that's my personal preference.
Still thinking of an image graphic for the non-denom (your initials... to hokey?)... joker?... a clock/timer?... a suit e.g. spade... a club??
Just somoe quick thoughts... good job & I look forward to seeing the revisions (if any!).

- Fins | Thanks, Fins,
Truthfully, one of the designs I referenced when I was describing to Patrick what I was looking for in a chip was yours. I loved the color shift on the chips with the graphic you have. That was the basis for what I've got going on in the main part of the chip.
There's still a few details to go. I've looked at the samples with edge denoms and they may not survive to the final design. Right now we're working on making the icons stand out a bit more by colorizing them. I'm moving the chip denoms lower on the chip (obscuring the bottom icon) and changing the font and coloration of the denom. Still planning to shorten the name on the chip as well.
Thanks for all the input. Keep it coming! I read all of these and seriously consider the advice I'm receiving. It's made a difference already in some of the design choices.

Chips: 14,330 | | | Revised edgespots After thinking about it and looking at some samples with the denoms on the edgespots I decided against having them on my chips. I was interested in hearing your impressions of this instead. I created an icon for a toppled king. Ideally, it would have been great to use the icons from the chip face but Patrick told me that they'd be too small to come out well if they were in the edgespots.
Anyway, take a look and let me know what you think:

The edge spots are very unique and very cool... it wil be interesting to see how they turn out. Keep us updated, and let us know if you change the face of the chip any more. |

I know you want to make them different from clay edge spots, but have you considered replicating the 'chess board' on the edge:

J5 | That looks good, imagine how it would look stacked. What a great idea!

Chips: 250 | | | the more i think about it... i think that the chess-board-like edge spots would look great... maybe try and see a mock up with those... i duno if it will cause an additional charge, but maybe you can get diff edge spots on diff chips. Thats an idea to think about...bes tof both worlds! good luck.... |

Chips: 9,135 | | | I think I like the checkerboard edge design the best as well. I am pretty sure that the king on the edge will just look like a spot on the side.
Not that that's bad (I am thinking about a diamond on the edgespot on mine), but it looses the checkerboard effect.
I thhink stacks of the chips J5 suggested will look really cool.

Chips: 79 | | | VA, I like the chess piece on the side, but I have to say that jldecarlo may have a very valid point on the chees piece coming out looking like a very small blob depending on how small it is. See if Patrick can print it out life size and set it on the table in front of you and see how it looks, if it looks okay, I think it is an awesome idea. I also like the checkerboard effect J5 came up with, it would look cool stacked. Keep it up, your chips are going to come out very very nice. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
