Def needs to be a king on its side. All it needs is a cross on the top to make it a king.
I like the idea of the pieces on the sides- to match the graphics on the outer ring.
This is a classy, unique design. Good luck and be sure to post pics when you get them.
L | Something like this?
I broke out my House of Staunton set and snapped this pic. I'll send this pic over to Patrick to give him something to model a graphic from. I think the graphic on the chip now could be nicer so I'd like to see something closer to the pieces that I have. | I love the design. Very nice! I really like the different ranks around the edges as you go up in Denom. If you want to go with the photo you might consider having them make those pieces going around the edges match the wood grain on the photo if at all possible.
Here is a very quick insert of the photo you took just to give you a look to see if you like it or not. Oh and on the NCV Edgespot if Checkmate will not fit or is too hard to read try spliting it up like this Check &....Mate......Check &......Mate. Anyway see how you like this. |

Chips: 14,330 | | | Hey, you know that doesn't look half bad. I'm not the biggest fan of digital photos on chips but that isn't bad at all.
Patrick emailed me back and I think he's going to do something similar as one example. I also mentioned what I felt would make the graphic he's got now more acceptable (fix the piece in the background to be a king and fix the knight's mane).
Thanks for the effort. If I ended up with chips like that I think I'd be pretty happy.

I decided that the idea that I had was crap and immediately began making changes. Patrick has also pitched in and made many helpful suggestions about layout and color choices. It's been a very good experience.
Hope that helps. | I have to echo that. They have been prompt and helpful. This is especially true when compared to what has been said about pokerchips.com.
I haven't personally had any dealing with pc.com but the horror stories about their slow art dept are the complete opposite of my experience with homepokerchips.com (the chipco people).

Since you are going to have a different 'face border' and rolling edge design on each chip, have you considered using a different main graphic for each also? ie. instead of just having the knight on all chips, you could change it to pawn/rook/bishop/queen, and match them to the symbol on the wrap.
That would only give you 5 variations, but for the non-denom, you could switch it up, or have just the king...

This is assuming you are paying for each individual design anyway... |

This is assuming you are paying for each individual design anyway... | That was the original idea but it was too expensive. I was overjoyed when Patrick told me I could put different icons on the border of each chip without incurring additional art cost (for 6 chips it would have been about a grand, yikes!).
Thanks for the compliments. I'm way too excited about this.

Chips: 14,006 | | | On the first glance-first initial reaction level -- there's too much on the chip. Words plus pieces plus denomination plus checker background looks very busy. I like the simple designs the best. Personally, I would lose the background, although reducing the words to just "checkmate" might do the trick.
Just my initial reaction. Otherwise, very cool personalized chip in the making. |

Chips: 250 | | | personally, i really like the checkerboard background... i think its a very cool feature to have encourperated (sp) into your chip. The type should be reduced, to just checkmate, i agree with that. I also am not a fan of denoms... but thats just me.. the font is too small anyway... just my opinion... good luck, keep us posted.
