Custom Chip Theme Ideas

anyone have any good ideas of a 'theme' to use for labels for a custom poker chip set? i know its all personal taste, but i cannot really decide on anything.

i was thinking of doing a Tombstone/Earp theme. Nothing is better than a little Doc Holliday and Johnny Ringo!

Post some of your own ideas!

Clonexx posted a custom theme that got me thinking about a 4 hoursemen theme chipset, I think that would be cool.

I also like comics so for me, and this may be geeky , but a superhero theme set.

Some that I considered:

Western theme with the lawman on one side and his famous outlaw on the other.

Prohibition era gangster theme. You could also do the same as above with gmen on one side and the gangster on the other.

Ripoff copies of old casinos' chips from the birth of the strip (50's)

Your favorite TV show... duffman still deserves to be on a chip

Your favorite movie... someone did a lebowski set that's cool

Your favorite video game... someone did a DOOM set that was great.

I also considered doing stylized suits like the "chipco suits" chips.

good luck.

edit: oooh, the four horsemen of the apocolypse! That's hot. If you needed a fifth they could all be riding together on it.

I can think of a few themes I'd love:

- Sports teams of a major city
- Beer logos
- Star Wars (ok so thats geeky)
- Astronomy (galaxies, clusters, nebulae, planets, Hubble images...)
- Logo of famous casinos

If I were doing a custom set, the name of the casino would be "Hill Valley Casino" (Back to the Future), and it would just have classic look. I would have the name in the middle of the chip in a classy font, an outline of some hills in the back ground (somewhat like the pyramid chip in the Pharaoh's Paulson's), and a denom on the bottom. I also thought about incorporating the clock tower from the movie in the background of the chip, perhaps instead of hills.

I have also thought about just using the character's from the movie for a set, but I like a classic casino look.

I don't know why I like that damn movie so much..Maybe because I watched it like 3 times a day growing up.

Resorvoir Dogs.

But the Tombstone/Earp idea is a great one too, but you'd have to use Kurt Russel and Val Kilmer or no one will recognize them.

Yea, that is what I would do. I don't think there are any quality images of the real lawmen themselves.

Considering that Four Horsemen theme, you have links to his representations? It sounds really cool!

Sticking with the Wild West theme.

How about a set of denom chips using a Wanted Dead or Alive theme with the bounty amount being the chip value.

Thats actually a really cool idea!!! Then you can play the Bon Jovi song in the background as you play too and have 80s flashbacks!
