Chips: 13,075 | | | My first mockup chip for my order I'm pursuing a chess themed set of chips through homepokerchips.com. Here's an early mockup I made to get things started...
I will obviously be relying heavilly on their artists - I am not good at that sort of thing.

Chips: 15,967 | | | interesting. not as "chessy" as i imagined it would be. do you intend there to be different inlays for the diff denoms? or just the one inlay with different colors? |

I decided that I'd better scale it back to keep the overall cost more reasonable.

i'd definitely do something more visual, then. i don't really like the KQ thing. |

Chips: 36,209 | | | Give homepokerchips some direction, and then let them show you some stuff. I think you'll be very happy with them. |

Chips: 13,075 | | | Oh, I agree that if this were anything close to a final it would not be worth the effort. I'm interested in the commonalities between the two games so substituting graphics for chess K and Q seemed like an obvious choice.
In reality, the only part of it that I'm really excited about so far is the little pawns on the border. The interior of the chip could change entirely if I get a truly inspired idea.
Feel free to make any suggestions.

I guess I'm a little disappointed all the pieces aren't represented. I like the pawn wrap so it might not be worth changing but you could have a rook, knight, bishop, pawn repeated... you could make a play on Poker Knight with the K&Q cards framed by rooks but you'd still leave out the bishop?? If you do a white chip (though I'm not a fan of white chips) you could use alot of blk/white spots so when the $1's are stacked they could resemble a board . Patrick's very good so I think your rough ideas will be good but it doesn't hurt to have a lot of thoughts/comments on what you'd like to see to give him more direction with which to work.
Just my first thoughts... I like the theme and it looks like a good start!
Look forward to seeing the design progress so keep us updated.

Chips: 202 | | IMO, the coolest chess-related images are the pieces themselves. You might think about finding some chess-piece graphics and using those. Also, since it's called the "Checkmate Club", you might have the king knocked over (like when someone resigns).
Something like this (except with the king knocked over):
I'm partial to glass pieces myself, but you could use whatever you like the best. If you have a set, maybe you could set up your board and take your own picture. |

Chips: 1,751 | | | I'd think you would want to incorporate the squares of a chess board someplace in your design, especially if you have a whole Chipco area to fill up. You could still use the woodgrain, but see if you can get the black and white squares in there too... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
