Full Custom Abbiati Poker Chips...READ ON

A few weeks back, I emailed Abbiati about the possibility of creating some custom chips for the home market. They forwarded my e-mail to their distributor for the home market in the US, who I spoke with today. He's a photographer who's worked with Abbiati for casino stock photography, and who can place orders directly for chips, plaques, tables, etc. I believe there's a custom James Bond-like plaque order floating around ChipTalk now.

These are great chips and similar to the Bud Jones style in construction (some even prefer them to Bud Jones). They have an infinite number of colors and styles, which you can find on their website (www.abbiati.it).

This is by no means a firm quote, but prices range from $1.25 to $2.00 per chip. Obviously, the higher the quantity, the better the price.

As a huge Bud Jones fan, I for one would be very interested in a home set of custom Abbiatis, probably a mixed Cash / Tourney set of 2,000 or so. I'm curious if anyone else would be interested. If we can get the quantity up, we could probably get a great deal.

You can also view their downloadble brochure here:

http://www.abbiati.it/images/stories...IATI%205MG.pdf

Obviously, we haven't even begun to think about mold choice and design. But this may be an opportunity to create ---- finally ---- a fully professional home set with a killer design and the perfect color combos.

PM me if you have any interest and I'll keep the group posted. The next step would be to narrow down mold and denoms to get a more accurate quote.

This custom ChipTalk link is built to show you only the real deal: Casino quality poker chips; Not the plastic chips that some sellers call "clay."

Wow.. Imagine a set of custom mold inlay chips with the hologram ring. Those would be sick! A nice custom Plaque for the higher denoms, and large custom Jetons for dealer buttons. Imagine the possibilities

No minimum order per se, though he indicated that at very low quantities (5,000 and below), there would a significant upcharge. I think if we could get to 20,000, we could probably get the price closer to $1.25.

Do you own some Abbiati sample chips? I have some, and I am not overly impressed with the quality. They are not on a par with Bud Jones. Or Matsui, for that matter. I can put up some pictures when I find the time for it.

Abbiati sells MANY different types of chips, even Sunfly ceramics (weird - see page 26)!

Do you know specifically which chips (and sizes) are available & included in the $1.25 - $2.00 quote? I think the chip pics you posted are for their RFID chips...

I would like to see specific catalog numbers of what would be available for purchase through something like this. I'm think that you probably won't be able to pick up any of the casino line for less than 2.00/chip. I can't open the catalog now, but I seem to remember both sunfly and some other home market chips. I don't imagine there would be too much interest in those. But, if you COULD get some nice quality chips for 1.25-2.00 a piece, I'd be in for maybe 200 or so, high end denoms. Depending on final design/colors, etc.

Having handled and played with the fine Matsui product. I just can't see spending this much money for what amounts to a "fancy plastic chip". Not to mention, having tried to deal with Abiatti before, it was anything but smooth and dropped off totally when they found out it was a very small order possibility.

I hope this happens - because I know it's been attempted in the past and failed - and if people like their chips - its a win for Chiptalk. Good luck all and I will continue to follow as I am curious to see how it proceeds.

GROUP BUY!

I've handled some Owls at my friend's home game, and must say they're pretty nice. They're a plastic chip with a sandpaper texture.
