ASM add-ons and color variance question

anyone ever add-on to a specific denom within their existing ASM set (e.g. adding on more red chips or blue chips or whatever color)?

if so, did you experience much color variance between the old and new chips? can you tell they were purchased at 2 different time?

pics would be helpful also, if you have any.

Re: ASM add-ons and color variance question

I've added dg yellow, dg green, dg pink and imperial blue chips to my Coconut Club cash set. Didn't notice any variance with the colors, purchased the add-on about 4 months after the original order.

Re: ASM add-ons and color variance question

I have blue chips from an original order and an add-on from what was probably six months later. There is a small color difference between the two orders, but when splashed together in a pot... it's hard to tell.

I also have black, lavender and yellow add-ons from a year later and they all look the same. The new lavenders are actually just a hair lighter, but I suspect that when they get more more use, they will blend better (it's almost like the brass shows up more in the new ones).

Re: ASM add-ons and color variance question

I had a question about this too because I definitely plan on adding on. It seems like the most noticeable difference would come in Imp Blue, Lavender, and Purple. I guess if no one posts pictures it's because they can't tell the difference between the original and addons, so let's hope we don't see too many pics

I've had no problems with any of my previous 3 orders.

Re: ASM add-ons and color variance question

Yup. I did two add-on orders. There were noticeable color variations in the $.25, $1 and $5 chips. It's not too bad in a pot, but becomes more apparent in stacks. I can live with the variantion in the $1's and $5's, because the spots break things up enough that you can overlook it. The quarters, however, are so far off in color (originals were more brown/gray and new ones were more bllue/gray) that I didn't integrate any of the new quarters into my set; they're still sitting in the box.

In the pics that Links linked to, I did take care to remove any of the newer chips from the stacks in the foreground. I didn't take any pics specifically comparing the differences in color.

Sorry about this, then. The color differences aren't too bad. Certainly not enough to complain about. But they're there. My scanner isn't the best, the differences are more apparent in person.

The newer blue is brighter than the blue from my older orders. I've heard blue is either the hardest or one of the hardest colors to be consistent with. The orange from 2003 is what I like to call "brick" orange, whereas the newer orange is bright with no black specs at all. I love the black specks (possibly from the edge spot giving off dust?) on the brick orange chips--it looks sweet! But it is different from the new chip orange, so I thought I'd share.

If you click on the thumbnail, please make the picture full-size. The condensed version (on my monitor at least) doesn't show the differences very well.

Re: ASM add-ons and color variance question

Yes, no time for pics right now, but I did not mind the variation that much. If I recall Blue was tough to match, also white.
