Custom ceramic plaques for seat cards?

I was reading this thread:

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/home-g...eat-cards.html

And I thought to myself - how cool would it be to have a ceramic plaque for seat cards? I don't really host many tournaments myself but I still would be compelled to buy some if they were available.

But there would be a few hurdles to overcome:

1) Do any of the vendors even allow for 2 sided printing?

I have not seen any of the sites mention this as an option.

2) Since each plaque would essentially be a different design (table 1 seat 1, table 1 seat 2, etc) it wouldn't really be feasible for an individual to place an order because of the minimum numbers per design that vendors require. eg. HPC requires a min of 12 per design, Mr Chip requires 25 per design, etc.

In order to get enough for 2 tables of 10 an individual would have to order at least 240 from HPC - ending up with 220 extras. Having extras is always nice but 11 extras of each is a little overkill. Which could be solved if you could find 11 other people who could agree on a design. (This is assuming that 2 sided printing is even possible)

3) Cost - probably around $10 a pop.

What do you mean by two sided printing? A different design on each side?

Re: Custom ceramic plaques for seat cards?

If you can't find an affordable way to get ceramics but still want some type of plaque, you can do it yourself if you have a good desktop printer. Buy some waterslide decal paper (the type model makers use) and print them yourself. Then you'd need some acrylic/plexiglass and cut to size, round/sand corners.

The waterslide paper is clear, so you need to apply it to white material if you have white in your design. I had no waterslide experience prior to buying it a few weeks ago and it was very easy to use.

I did the same process for my latest branch of Dealer buttons. I used half inch clear acrylic, laser cut the circle, applied reflective white vinyl on the clear and then put the waterslide decal on top. I finished it with reflective red vinyl around the rolling edge. I used to laser engrave my buttons, but after seeing all the cool color ones on this forum, I decided I needed to step it up.

If you decide to go this route and need more info, let me know.

Ron
