The folks at ASM are just plain mean...

I dropped Cathy a line yesterday to find out what the status on my chips was (it had been three weeks since I last bugged her). The message sent back told me that the whole set was done minus a handful of the 3U chips I ordered as they needed to make more to make up for those that didn't pass muster.

Talk about cruel and unusual punishment!!! To know that they are all done, probably sitting in their boxes in some dark area at the production facility in Maine and just waiting for some stragglers.

Until I get the UPS tracking number, it's going to drive me NUTS!

Anyone else deal with this before?

Anyone know how to get your mind off of the finished chips?

I'm jonesing to get my hands all over them and put them into a giant pot and splash them around.

Help me PLEASE!!!

Re: The folks at ASM are just plain mean...

I would consider buying some other Chips or SampleSets to keep you amused during the waiting time. That´s what i am doing constantly since i´ve ordered my protege supplementals half a year ago.
Otherwise you can get drunk and stay it until your chips arrive...but that may cause another addiction

Re: The folks at ASM are just plain mean...

No kidding!! I just got an update from Cathy yesterday, here's what she said:

"The parts are all made and the chips are put together so I am hoping to ship the order around the 1st of April. "

Does anyone know the logistics of their process? It seems like if the chips are all put together, they should be ready to ship before April 1, right?

I agree, this is torture!!!

Re: The folks at ASM are just plain mean...

Imagine my surprise when, after placing and paying in full for the minimum 300 solid chips, pics of a 44mm order were up yesterday. Does anybody hear a violin? I can barely hear it. Good news is they come today.

Re: The folks at ASM are just plain mean...

Read the interview with Jim Blanchard recently posted....gives a lot of insight to the production process and why the chips can take a while to produce.

Someone else post the link, I have people for this crap.

Re: The folks at ASM are just plain mean...

Can anyone translate the problem with the 3Us. I did not quite understand it when Cathy was explaining to me the problems they go through sometime during production.

BTW, like others have said, buy meantime chips. It will keep you amused for alittle while

Re: The folks at ASM are just plain mean...

Were those 3u 44mm's?
Oddly enough, I am waiting on regular set of 39mm blanks ordered in Jan.
I had assumed the shipment notification was for the 614 blanks, that is why I was stunned to see the 44's show up.
In fact, they showed up with hourglass blanks chips also i ordered in Jan.
The regulars form Jan. are 614's and I was originally told they are time consuming to make like the U's.

I think so much material is punched off the chip it requires special handling (and small fingers) .
