ASM "Blank" Mold (FAQ)

Hi there,

I've seen the so-called "Blank" or "No" mold of ASM being mentioned here in a couple of threads.
What I don't quite get, yet, is, why does ASM not mention it on their website (pokerchips.com)? Is this mold actually available to private customers?

Furthermore, is this mold indeed the very mold that you can see in the movie rounders, in the scene where Mike and Worm play 20:40 Stud with the cops?
These chips appear quite thin to me in comparison to Teddy KGB's Roman molds, or is it just me?

So, I'm looking for all the information there is about this mold. Can you please help me out?

Greets,
KampfHase

Re: ASM "Blank" Mold (FAQ)

The plain mold is used for the Chesterfield chips. Worm plays the Russian mob guys at the Chesterfield club.

The Binghamton "municipal workers" game had old school clay (or bakelite?) chips that aren't made anymore, but appear on ebay all the time. They often have a letter or symbol in white. I don't remember the symbol in the movie (maybe the letter E?) but I do remember that Mike has a couple identical chips in his cigar box in the first scene.

The ASM website is very nice but I don't think it's been updated for a couple years. I'm sure there is a lot of stuff they do that isn't listed.

That's not quite accurate. It gets updated pretty regularly (e.g. when the half-pies were recently added; when the Roman mold got added/removed/added/removed/added..., etc.).

There are a lot of spot options that are only available to CTers, and the "no mold" might be included in that. Ditto for the new 44 mm A-mold chips (so far at least; they might appear on pokerchips.com for everyone at some later date).

Thanks for the correction. I haven't been watching long enough to notice any changes, and of course there is a lot of ASM action happening here that doesn't appear on the website. Mainly, though, I was going by the note "Last Update 03-18-06" that is on all their pages.

Re: ASM "Blank" Mold (FAQ)

So, it's called "Plain" mold, that right?

Does anybody got any pics of it?

Thanx for the input!

Re: ASM "Blank" Mold (FAQ)

Yes, plain mold. Well, acutally just "plain" because there is no mold at all.
There was a thread from pokerchips.com some time ago when they offered the plain chips. Don't know if it still exists or if jimb deleted it already.

I dunno if that's correct, but the chips in the professors and judges game where Mike tells everybody where they're at look like small crown solid blanks.

Re: ASM "Blank" Mold (FAQ)

Here's the link to jimb's announcement:
http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/pokerc...old-chips.html

These are the textured version (obviously)... but there is also a smooth version. You might want to email the fine people at pokerchips.com to find out if both are available (or if it's just the textured one).

I hadn't noticed that. Hmm... maybe I'm in error. How long have the half-pies been available? I don't think it's been more than a year... Though, I've heard that "time flies", so perhaps...
