ASM Customs questions

I'm about to launch an order of ASM tourney chips, but before I embark solo, I thought I'd hit up the collective group for ideas. I know I'm already going to be influenced by many of the great color schemes I've seen here, but I'm interested in a color scheme or edge spot pattern that you think would look great that you haven't seen before (or atleast not too often).

What usually happens is a couple months after getting my new chips, I see some amazing combo that I can't believe I never een considered.

So I propose this: anyone who's idea I use on one of my chips, I'll make you a custom poker trophy for one of your big tournaments. I can make it virtually any shape and can engrave just about anything on it. Consider it your "royalty" for me stealing your great idea.

Also, what do blank half pies look like. Are they half one color and half the other? Anyone have any of these hot stamped? Pics?

Thanks,
Ron

Re: ASM Customs questions

I've never ordered or designed customs before.. so I can only be of help with a pic of a hotstamped 1/2 pie. A whole set of 1/2 pie hotstamps would be cool to do. I'd say just open up the Chip Factory and start trying out different color and edgespot combos. I wouldn't worry too much about seeing a chip you wish you had or designed down the road. If you spend enought time with the design process, there should be no regrets, and you should be happy with what you've come up with. Good luck. If that doesn't work out.. post a thread in the custom chip - request for hire thread.

Re: ASM Customs questions

How bout an anti-color scheme??

Well, I had a couple ideas when I read this and tried them out. They sucked. So I was thinking, "what do I never see that is possible?" So, this is what I came up with. It's a bit daring, i'll admit, but it would sure be unique. Don't see grayscale chips everyday.

I only had a few minutes to put this together, so the inlay is just a film noir poster that I turned in to a label (I love the title)....totally can't use that, but a design built from that idea could be sweet. A femme fatale, name and number in red with a black and white background is what i was after. Each label could have a different girl/film noir scene on it, or they could al the be same.

Heck, i'm even considering making these myself.

Re: ASM Customs questions

dap, thanks for the inout. I don't really "need" help designing them, but I just wanted to hear other people's ideas for an interesting color scheme (like the greyscale idea).

I've already been playing with colors, but after doing it for a few days now, I thought it was funny how my brain keeps defaulting to the same colors I've preiously used. I would never, for example, have thought to put chocolate with dg pink or dg green, but then I see some chips here and say to myself, "hmmmm, maybe I need to expand my belief systems on acceptable color combos."

That led me to this thread. Just trying to pull some ideas from the many geniuses who frequent this forum.

Re: ASM Customs questions

I kind of went with a fall/halloween color theme for my cash set.

Hope the pics work.

Re: ASM Customs questions

I almost pulled the trigger on buying 30 or so blank half pie Hourglass in chocolate/dg green to add onto my current set, but stupidly pulled out at the last minute. I also considered black/orange (Harley colors) before that. If I had to do it all over again, I'd at least get the mint chocolate chips in a heartbeat.

If you do decide to buy any blanks for your custom set, please let me buy some from you. It is my greatest regret that I didn't do so when the option was available to me.
