Chips: 3,643 | | | BCC fonts My next custom chip will be a solid hotstamp set from BCC. If I want to match my text to the TRK denoms they have, do they need to have the font for that? Or is it part of my hotsamp design and therefore doesn't require them to have the font? |

If you don't care about matching perfectly, there may be some free alternatives out there.
Are you thinking of a hotstamp on one side and the TRK denoms on the other or are you wanting the denom in your hotstamp? If it's the latter, then the denom is part of the hotstamp design. |

Chips: 3,643 | | | Re: BCC fonts Well, I'm considering my options. From what I saw you said in another thread, it sounds like an individual die would be $100. So 4 denoms would be $400. Don't know that I can stomach that, but it would be cool. I'll probably end up with one stamp and using the TRK denoms on the reverse. Given that, I think I would want some similarities between the text of the denom and the text on my HS. Then again, I love the font on the fun nites.
BTW, is the desigher in? Quote:

I had mine made through SOK, and it was approx $50, but you have to get blank solids.
Sounds like you'll be in the blank solid market as well.
Of course
Just send me an email with what you have in mind and we can get it going. We'll have to look and see what we can find that's similar to the TRK font. |

We have already teamed up to make some really nice dies. I have a 5 Tournament Die set in the wings. Kari does tremendous work and is very good to work with. Turnaround time on Custom Dies is like 3 days to from artwork submition to my door.
As for when I might be available to stamp them for you thats hard to say. I have approx. 5,500 ASM Hourglasses in route to me. That should keep me busy for atleast a month.

Chips: 3,643 | | | Re: BCC fonts Thanks SoK. I'll be going with BCC and I'm not sure what blanks they'll sell. I'd like to get them on Roland's mold once that deal goes through.
Are you able to get sharp lines on the hotstamp with minimal excess? That's something I'd be willing to pay BCC a little extra for. Kari says they scrape their chips, which I guess makes for cleaner lines. Is that right, Kari?
Regarding Kari's work: he designed my custom BCCs and I couldn't be happier with his skills or service. He is currently (or will be eventually) working on my hotstamp design. I'm sure it will turn out great! Quote:

I've got two people I've worked with touting my abilities to each other.
I've scraped some of the samples SOK did for me and it makes a difference, the problem is that I overscraped some of them, so I cut into the hotstamp a little. I'll scrape a couple more and see if I can do it better and post the results. |

Chips: 29 | | | Re: BCC fonts I try not to scrap any chips. I stamp them in such a way to minimize the need. If you do it right most chips won't need it. I find scrapping damages the chips and in some cases the Hotstamp. If the right chips are used scrapping is not necessary. I have a 300 chip T-Mold set with not one chip needing scrapping. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
