1. Learn to use Adobe Illustrator - Create your own!
(OK, everyone isn't an artist, so here are the more probable options.)
2. Find your local Computer Superstore. They have boxed "clip art" DVD sets with, in some cases, 1 million+ pieces of art. They are usually around $100 (some a little more).
3. I've used Clipart - Download Royalty-Free Clipart, Images, Fonts, Web Art and Graphics which works from a subscription basis. It is also a little more than $100 for a year, but has TONS of clipart and is easily searchable, includes a shopping cart interface to add your selected artwork, and then later download. This can give you some good "base objects" to work with in your vector art program. What I like most about this site is that you can access it from any computer simply by logging in. For instance I can search at the office, add them to my cart, and then download the art from home. |

Now correct me if I am incorrect, but not all clip art is readily usable do to one thing aor another. Is that the reason why sometimes when I use a clip art that it comes out rough edged?
Should I use only certain types of "Art" if possible? If so, what is the name of such types.
And are there any good tutorials out there that show me how to "Create my Own"?
I am close to putting together my ideas on a mockup that I can taste it.
it's just that some of the clip art I'm using isn't totally usable and clear when I go to 200x on Illustrator.

If it is raster make sure it is at least 300 dpi. Vector images usually end in .ai, .eps, .svg, .pdf. However, not all files that end with those extensions will absolutely be vector. |

I noticed on Illustrator that there is a HIGH option at 300,
is t better to go custom at a higher rate? 600 perhaps
or is 300 a standard?
These tips are great and I hope to show you guys my progress soon, at least by the end of the month.

It's the clipart file that needs to be a higher resolution. Basically for an image that is going to fit a 1" circle, it needs to be at least 300x300 if it is a raster image (jpg, png, gif, bmp, etc.) |

where have you been getting your art/graphics?
I really like your designs . . . especially of the Molds you did awhile back and the Pirate Dyes. Really awesome stuff.

Chips: 6 | | | Re: Vector Graphics keep in mind that vector art is usefull when you need high resolution design for imprint of a certain size. The good thing about vector is that you can stretch it as much as you like and the quality will still be the same while raster will fade ugly. On a 1" circle you can pretty much do what you like, probably even if you download an image from online no one will notice the pixels. Just mix it up on photoshop and some of your creativity and you will be fine |

Really awesome stuff. | All of the molds were designs I created in my graphics program, so are all the silhouettes I did for the current meetup. The pirate images were "free" SVG images off of the internet, (public licensed, maybe off of wikipedia?).
I Don't remember the site off the top of my head, but opencliart.org or something like that has a repository of SVG clipart that people draw and donate. A lot of times if you find a image on wikipedia it'll tell you if it is a public domain image or if it may have a copyright.
I've also used one of the clipart sites that I had some free downloads in with my graphics software. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
