Chips: 1,037 | | | ASM: What Gives? Okay, so I've seen a lot of 3U spots lately and I have a question for those that have gotten them made: How do you do it? I've asked Cathy repeatedly (4 or 5 times now) and each time I get the same response: "we're not offering this pattern. it's too labor intensive." I PMed Jim a few weeks ago asking why some can get it and some cannot. Same answer. I've wanted a chip with these spots ever since I saw the Avalons. Then I see all these custom sets posted. Must be nice. To be honest, it p*sses the **** outta me. It makes me so mad that I'm considering canceling the order that I currently have in the works.....

Chips: 11,726 | | | Re: ASM: What Gives? I asked and asked and asked... more times than I can count. I don't know what happened this time. Right day, right time? Planets aligned (checked that one... nothing I saw)? Wind from the right direction? Who knows.
I do know I had to do a color adjustment on the spots. The colors I originally wanted would have caused problems during pressing. Maybe they are close to figuring out which color combos work and which cause so many problems they have to make many extra just to get ones that work? I know I wasn't ordering a lot of them... maybe that helped?
I don't know what to say. The newest order will make about 3500 chips from ASM in under a year's time. Maybe that has something to do with it???
I feel for you. I had essentially given up on the U myself. I was stunned when in a passing message about my newest order and the 112 spots I'm getting Cathy said it was doable. Needless to say, I jumped. I could have done a lot more in the U department, but I didn't want to push too hard and kept it to a total of 60.
I wouldn't give up totally. ASMs are super sweet. I wish there was more in the spot department, but you can't beat the end product you get, as well as the service along the way. Maybe persistence and patience is the way. |

"Sorry Josh, you haven't ordered enough chips from us in the past for us to offer this spot combo to you" or "You haven't spent enough money in past purchases to get this spot" or "You're not one of our favorite members of ChipTalk"
Either one would still suck, but at least I'd have a real reason rather than the sunshine they've blown up my a** over the last few weeks about this....

I've got my own set of TRK stamped solids on the way from BCC, so I feel for him and sincerely hope everything gets worked out. |

Chips: 11,409 | | | Re: ASM: What Gives? It's tough - the Avalons were a special set that Jim & I dreamed up. And since I put in a large order for them, I've always assumed that because of that (and because I don't ask for many) that I could still get them for the Chelsea's. I'm not sure, but I'm not going to press my luck considering what ASM's done for me in the past and present.

Chips: 1,037 | | | Re: ASM: What Gives? To all those that have PMed me about this:
I understand that some people here have spent an ungodly amount on chips from ASM and some have spent a lot of time on projects for them. I also understand that these people may be give special privileges/options/whatever. That's totally cool. I'd probably do things the same way if it were my business. But for Jim and Cathy just to say "nope, we're not offering these to anyone" is flat out bullsh*t in my book especially since these spots are popping up more and more around here lately.
Like I've said to some of you, tell me how many chips I need to buy or tell me how much I need to spend before you'll make these for me. At least then I'd know where I stand. I wasn't kidding when I said I was considering canceling my order. It's only peanuts to them at 700 chips, so I'm sure they'll understand.
