Chips: 1,959 | | | Thank you ASM I want to thank ASM, expecially Cathy.
There is a thread a few months back, where I ordered custom Roman Mold ASM chips.
Because of thickness issues (which were discussed at length on CT) I sent back approximately 200 chips, and last Friday I received the replacement chips. I'm very excited that the set is now whole and are of the quality I'd expect.
I doubt that this was a profitable sale for ASM, but they stood behind their product. This is the type of company you want to deal with!
I thought everyone should know.
Thanks ASM! |

H-mold spinners?? 200 out of how many? My next set was going to be on the H-mold.....

ASM sent me about another 80 extras, which covered the few bad inlays and 50 or so spinners that I pulled the first time through. A few months later I pulled another 40-something spinners. I threw all of the bad chips out.
I placed 2 separate add-on orders for approximately 200 chips each. I've got over 120 spinners and a couple of way off center inlays that I pulled from my set. It's probably got something to do with the H-mold not having a recessed inlay. If I had to do it over again, I'd pick a mold with a recessed inlay.

ASM are great, from what I heard and from the products I own. Unfortunately I haven't been in direct contact with them yet, but this might change.... hell, I'm pretty sure it's gonna change rather sooner than later.

If it was during the summer, maybe the heat caused a little bit of warpage the first time around.
Are these being stored in a room with a lot of moisture? It seems strange that you're finding more spinners after having them for a while. My tourney set from ASM hasn't had that happen.

My tourney set from ASM hasn't had that happen. | Just went over my invoices & I was mistaken as to the number of orders placed. I've placed 4 orders from ASM - totaling over 1300 chips. The date on my very first invoice is 11/13/06. The first batch of 700 chips was delivered on 12/21/06, so summer heat shouldn't have been an issue.
Also, my first order had 83 extras (nearly 12%), which covered most of the spinners. My 3 add-ons had nowhere near that many extras (less than 5%). Overall, approximately 15% of my H-molds have been spinners. I suspect it's got something to do with the mold having a flush inlay area. I don't think humidity should be a problem. The hygrometer in my house typically reads in the 30's.
P.S. My latest batch of $.25 chips isn't the same shade of gray as my others.

Chips: 40 | | | Re: Thank you ASM Are they spinning because the labels are sticking out farther than the face, or spinning because they are warped? I have a couple H-molds and the way the surfaces rub together with the texture of the chips, it seems odd if the actual chip (not the label) was in contact with the other chips that they would spin. Has to be a warping problem, that or baybe your labels are just sticking out farther than the edge of the chip. |

"Spinners", "warping", "moisture during storage".
Seems like a lot of hassle. Are real clays really worth it?????
