Chips: 1,037 | | | Question about going with ASM for Customs... Thinking about ordering a set of customs from ASM.
Question:
What are the pluses/negatives for having them deveop the artwork with you vs. working with a designer from say Chiptalk?
Thanks!

My impression is you need to have a design pretty much laid out for them, that's where either you need to design it or have someone help you that does that. Sandy will assist on getting colors right, things moved and adjusted to the way you want, but i don't think she will necessarily come up with a design for you. I'm not sure how far they will take it though, i pretty much had the design already laid out when i sent it too her. She did bear with me through my dozens of changes though before i gave her the go ahead on the proof. |

Do they need the inlay to be done in adobe photoshop or any particular type of software? |

Bsoder52 | ASM will design your inlay for free.
Some designers here do this for free and some request/require payment (sample sets, cash). Neither is right or wrong, I'm just saying that's how it is.
IMO, you can't go wrong with either, it just - like so many other things here - boils down to personal preference. Sandy added the finishing touches to my customs and nailed it on the first try.

From the work that resulted from this thread, I then worked back and forth with Sandy at PCO and with Feen666 (who helped me with the artwork). Sandy works on a mac as I recall and it helped to get her the artwork in illustrator format. Feen and Sandy were awesome working up the final artwork. Depending on the artwork and which chip you use, theres gonna be some give and take on what is realistically possible. I initially wanted everything including the kitchen sink on my chips. In the end I was very happy with the final product and everyone at PCO was nice to work with. |
