BCC SPOT custimization question

Anyone with experience of going through the BCC edgespot discussion, care to chime in on this question before I start the discussion with BCC?

Say I want to use the 3T18 edgespot. Instead of three spot colors I choose only two. In this mockup, I used a white edgespot and two (2) Saturn Yellow spots right next to each other.

By mizuchaud

Is this gonna be struck down pronto?

I understand their reticence not to do a edgespot matching a body spot because of the Samurai example, but this seems to be different as it's using two edgespots to make a bigger one (visually).

Follow up question: anyone ever ask BCC if you can get a second color into the 1X1 edgespot so it looks like a two spotted cousin of the Flamingo blue $1 chip?

(shove a chunk of spot color into the bigger chunk of fill edgespot?) Like a single U spot.....drool.

I think they can probably do it. Mike will probably tell you that there may be a small line where the two identical colors meet.

As far as putting a second color "into" an edge spot, I don't think they can do that. They might be able to put 2 - 1/2" spots into it or 1/4-1/2-1/4, but I don't know for sure.

Re: BCC SPOT custimization question

I bet they'll do it, but I'd recco. against it for reasons listed above. I personally don't think it'll turn out like you've got it pictured in your head.

Re: BCC SPOT custimization question

I think he will advise against it merely for the chance that the two edgespots that are the same color might not match exactly. I know he was against putting the base color as the outside edgespot colors for this very reason.

Re: BCC SPOT custimization question

Agree with above. They might do it but it won't look like your mock up. I have a chip with one spot done to match body color. It's close but you can definitely tell it doesn't match. Doesn't bother me greatly but for what you're trying to achieve I don't think you'd be happy.

As far as the second question I have no idea, give 'em a call and ask.
