I have samples of each and was wondering everyones thoughts

The smooth chips seem a little sharper image wise. I was wondering how they hold up in the long run? wear and tear wise.

any thoughts before i dish out $500?

Well, the smooth actually stay the way they are. they can't wear off much because there isn't much texture at all. But, as I experienced, they are capable of color transfer if you push, let's say, a black chip onto a yellow.
The textured chips, from what I heared, do wear off they texture of course and become more slippery.

I don't think the smooth are still available unless you are adding to a previous set.

From my perception, I think it would take a lot of playing and a lot of shuffling to wear down the texture. If you search the forums you will find old threads on this topic as well.

The graphics on ceramics are slightly less sharp than the smooth.
Smooth chips are slick. Old style textured are slicker.
