Chips: 46 | | | Importance of Denominations Folks:
I am ordering a set of custom hotstamps from BCC. It took a while but I recently received the final artwork, which has no denominations.
I now need to decide whether to put the custom artwork on both sides of the chips or use a BCC denomination on one side and the custom artwork on the other.
It's a very difficult decision for me. I don't particularly like BCC's denominations, and the chips would look better without them. However, if I don't use denominations, I will be forever answering questions about the value of the various colors.
I need to finalize things tonight. I've asked for advice from my wife and friends, but they just don't understand the importance of this issue.
Any comments would be appreciated.

I've considered the same thing with a BCC hotstamped set. I too, am not a fan of the looks of their denom hotstamps (how tough would it be to get a more classy font than the ugly ones that they have). I also know it would look really nice to have your custom stamp on both sides.
That said, I think you will be forever grateful to have the denoms on the chips, so you don't have to continually be answering questions. It becomes a royal PITA. |

i assume your are using the same artwork for all chips to get away from paying seperate artwork charges per chip.
have you checked with BCC about using the same artwork and just adding a denom to the existing artwork. may be a reduced artwork charge.
if you go with no denom, what about ordering extra chips and make a wall hanging with chips and values.
i personally dont like BCC's denoms either and would rather answer questions than be stuck with them on the chips - if you dont like them.
not sure if this helps, just some thoughts. |

Unless you always play with the same people, and are willing to spend a night or two fixing incorrect bets and telling them over and over "The purple is $1" before they all commit it to memory, I'd suggest getting them denominated.
If you are getting a "standard tournament set" and your players are used to the typical casino set-up of Red=5, Green=25, Black=100, etc, then you can consider more comfortably getting a non-denominated set. |

Chips: 58 | | | Re: Importance of Denominations I have both no denom and denom. I like both equally, but I'm keeping my non-denom sets forever. In 10-20 years I figure I won't be playing the same stakes (cash games) due to inflation or other reasons.
Non denom also offer more flexibility. As others have said, a big factor could be if you have a regular group, I do, so everyone knows the values of each chip, and for tourneys I use standard colours for 5,25,100 etc.
There are arguments for and against. Depends if you play cash, tourney, or both. If you have a regular group. If you change limits, or play with different groups. And if you plan on keeping the chips for decades. |

Chips represent currency and their would be no currency without denoms. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
