I posted this in the "Donkey KGB" group buy thread, but then thought a poll was in order.
Anybody else ever notice that brand new ASMs smell sweet?! Seriously, every time I open the case, it smells like candy! I don't think it's psychological ... even if the pink w/ black and chocolate w/ white chips do look a bit like candy.
They sure smell better than my PI Chinese clay tourney set (had a chemical smell to them, but it mostly went away after oiling) and I don't recall any noticeable odour to my Samurais when they were brand new.

Nope. No special smell at all on my Roman or American mold brand new ASMs.

I"ve never owned brand new ASM's, only used, so I couldn't tell you but I remember when I opened the casino royale chip case it smelled like maple syrup, I know...probably just my overactive Canadian imagination |

This is just a trick to get us all to sniff our chips, isn't it? 
I haven't noticed any smell, but perhaps there was when they first arrived and has dissipated...I didn't notice anything particular when there were new though, as far as I can remember. |
