Customer sent me this link with the style of font they want in a design.



They want a distressed athletic looking typface.

Any ideas on a name or a similar font, or does someone have a face like this and can typeset two words for me in Illustrator, outline and e-mail them to me?

That font is called Princetown (it must have been "distressed" after it was set)

Alternately, you could use a square-ish bold font, make it the same color as the background and stroke it in the color you want. Rasterize, then distress. Voila.

I have 1200+ fonts and I don't have that campus font either ... I have a Jedi, a Ferrari ... even an XXX font, but no Campus. Go figure.

Oops, I missed the "distressed" part. There are lots of distressed-looking fonts on DaFont.com, but I couldn't find one that looks the same as posted above. But you might find something even better... look in the "fancy" categories called "eroded", "distorted", and "destroy". Otherwise, you might have to do some mask technique on a clean font (after converting it to image) to make it look distressed.

That font worked fine.

I was hoping to find an "already distressed" version similar to it, so I could keep it in vector format, but I ended up rasterizing it and distressing it in Photoshop at high rez.
