Re: Warped BCC's

Here's what I have noticed regarding "non-circular" inlays:

- All of my $1 chips (white with 418 dark blue spots) look perfect - I haven't seen ANY non circular inlays.
- My quarters (gray solids) all look bad - I can easily notice the non circular inlays.
- My $5 chips (blood red with 4D14 horizon blue and sherbert green spots) are a mix of both good and bad.

This leads me to believe it isn't a problem with the spot pattern if my solids are all messed up. Could it have something to do with the difference in materials used in the colors, or is it just a production issue with the "machinery" and not dependant on the colors?

Here are my chips:

I'd like to see some closeups of the bad chips. Can you take some closer photos like I did of the warped chips pictured above?

Looking at your pics in the other thread, this appears to be a different problem than the one I was discussing and that I think the NYers experienced...and its one that is usually considered within the expected "tolerances" for BCC clays.

Your inlays are sized to fit within the recessed area. These don't appear to be susceptible to the "stretching" or "overlap" issues that larger inlays have. So, your text and black hyphenated circle don't show any real distortion.

However, I think you are talking about the fact that the inlay itself is not circular. That is something which is one of the things that falls under "tolerances" (see the link in this post- http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/595778-post27.html)

The problem with the NYers being non-circular largely refers to the appearance of their circle that is part of their inlay.

Stretching is the problem - it causes the non-circular inlays on my quarters. In a lot of cases you can see that the circle on my inlay is thicker in some areas (due to stretching) and thinner in others.

I'll try and find a scanner at work and post some pics.

Re: Warped BCC's

Still unresolved. I just replied to a letter from BCC. To be direct, I am quite unhappy.

I'm not going to post on the subject for at least a day or two as I wait for a reply from BCC.

No updates. Last time I heard from BCC was on 8/23/2007. They said they would work on replacing the chips and get back to me.

This might be a dumb question, but why don't you call them instead of waiting on email? I have talked to Dave or Mike EVERY Day since last Tuesday. Are they refusing to come to the phone when they know it's you?

Hmm.. I always thought it was pretty quick to send an email. Rather than tie up their time on the phone, I would rather that they work on the chips.

Re: Warped BCC's

You know I thought about your reply a little more. Here's the part I don't get. They took over 6 months to send us the chips in the first place. They go for weeks without answer emails. They don't provide feedback on the status of the order. For example, all I know is that they are working on getting new inlays so they can replace the 25% of my order that was bad. That was over three weeks ago. They could have called me with an update, they could have emailed but they didn't. So, I sent them an email last week, no reply. I just sent them another email today.

So, their lack of progress and communication is my fault?

You are correct, they have no reason not to respond whether it is email or phone. However, if I were you I would just try to square it out on the phone. From my experience, they are not really email people but are very helpful on the phone. Is their lack of progress and communication your fault? Of couse not, but it still doesn't resolve your situation so I suggest you try something different and get to the bottom of this. I had to do the same thing with my order for it to move forward. Bottomline, do not wait for them to approach (or respond), you should approach.
