T-mold customization....

Received a T-mold sample set today, applied superthin labels from Hogwild, and as confirmed in other threads the 18 chip stack was effected by "spinners". I am still trying to figure out if this is a big deal and how high a stack can be before even the slightest bump would tip 'em all....other than this isssue these chips rock. I'm not a fan of hotstamping so my question is this:

Why not create these chips with a small recess to accept custom labels or offer customization on the blanks directly from HPC?

I am sure there is an obvious business reason to answer this question and MSPatton can speak to that and put this thing to bed right away....to me though from reading other posts it seems there would be TREMENDOUS interest in these chips if they could be labeled. Just my thoughts...I still may order 1000 anyway as I think these are way better than the other clays I've sampled.

Re: T-mold customization....

He actually has answered this before. He owns the mold and only wants it used for chips he produces and sells. If he made the recess deeper to accommodate aftermarket labeling, then he may sell more blanks, but his exclusive lines like the samurais and speakeasys and whatever else may be coming down the pipe could suffer.

Re: T-mold customization....

It would also cost him a LOT to have a recess made because that would mean a new mold would have to be cast.

Re: T-mold customization....

Did youget the super thin labels? I got some (4 mil) that caused spinners, then he shipped some 2 mil and no spinners, at all.

Makes sense to me and kinda what I figured.

I do have the 2 mil and actually upon further testing I realize it was more of a slide in the middle of the stack than a spin and also that it happened with the labels on or off. Does oiling reduce this slide? Would you oil before label application or after? Either way I think PPC and HPC may come together as one on my credit card for my next tourney set

Re: T-mold customization....

Are these labels so thin that an existing inlay underneath will show thru (probably depending on the colors of both labels)?

I don't see why you cannot apply them to existing chips that do have a recessed center.

I curious abou this as I was thinking of doinbfg this myself.

BTW, these are coming out soon: LINK
The design took custom labels into consideration.

That's a shame, as I had been wanting to do a custom with the roman mold; and when it was discontinued I realized the T-mold would work nice too and was gonig to eventually ask MP about doing it.
Who knows, he may have a change a heart in the future. I don't think it would hurt his retail chips. Charging a premium would more than make up for it.

To me it seems the labels are completely opaque and nothing would show through regardless of what was under it....I think if you can handle it not being "perfect" the T-molds w/2mil labels from Hogwild will work great.

Re: T-mold customization....

They don't show thru at all on the chips I've used them on. The only think they will show thru is the texture of a hotstamp if its aggressive.

Roman mold is no longer unavailable you know. Its been refurbished.
