Chips: 1,019 | | | Need help on ASM Chips... Okay, here we go. I am currently thinking of getting a set of ASM Chips. The Dollar is quite good, so I think a set would be possible... But there are still some things that boggle me...
1. I am not sure if I want to go with a Edgespot Custom Set for around $725 + shipping or a Solid Hotstamp Set for $300 + shipping. Yeah, edgespots are great, just not sure if I wanna ditch the extra double cash.
2. Are there any extra edgespot configs or only those on the website? I really miss the 4D14 or the 6A14.
3. Is a credit card the only payment option? I don't have one, so this might be the biggest problem.
4. Is the turnaround time still 4 to 5 months?
And last but not least:
5. Those who already have a custom ASM Set: Do you think it's worth it?
Thanks for the time if you can help with one of these questions....

Absolutely...I really tried to be frugal during the first of my orders, during the original 12-chip limited GB, but once I received the first shipment, I liked them so much I had to expand the set...3 or 4 more orders later, my cash set has grown to 1300+ and will likely be 1600+ very soon I'd do it all again if I had to. Jimb, Sandy, Cathy and Glenda are superstars! |

Bernd | 1. customs are the way to go, if you get stamps they can only be stock
2. 6a14 is available to chiptalk members, just call and ask about what others are available (mention you are a member at chiptalk)
3. not sure (but you know you can get a paypal debit card)
4. turn around is about 2 months now
5. definately worth it |

Chips: 234 | | | Re: Need help on ASM Chips... 1. Personally, I like my BC solid hotstamped chips with custom die better than my ASMs. The main reason being I ordered my ASMs when there were only 12 options of chips, no mixing and matching of colors of any sort.
2. I don't keep up on that since I'm not buying any more.
3. Don't know
4. Not sure about right now.
5. If I had absolutely no history with chips and was looking for a first set, I would honestly go with Blue Chip. I was a Blue Chip hater long ago for the poor quality, but I LOVE my solid hotstamped BC chips, and even tried to ebay my ASM's a few months back to recoup come money and order custom edgespotted chips with the grand inlay.
ASM's are VERY VERY nice chips, but if I were looking for a new set right now, I would want totally custom chips with Grand inlays, and BC would be able to do that for me.

Chips: 1,019 | | | Re: Need help on ASM Chips... My main problem with BC is their cost for inlays. And the all around turnout time (Protege's anyone? )
I think a chip with Super Grand or Giant inlay would be a dream, but ditching $600 for setup alone is sick. Not gonna do that.
Hotstamp is another story, but I really like the A-Mold more then the Flame... And there is no extra cost if I go with denoms only...
But thanks so much so far for all the help, everyone |

Having spoken to the Endy's, I'd advise getting your art together, and submitting it to them for a quote. It's worth a try, but until you get the quote you won't know for sure what they can do for what price.
As for the turn aropund, I'd guess that the printing problems that the Protege's had caused a lot of delay. Your design may or may not have the same issues, but again, it's worth a try.

Chips: 1,037 | | | Re: Need help on ASM Chips... I paid for mine with a personal check with no problems. All of your other questions seem to have been answered.
I ordered mine May 14th and Glenda's best guess for a ship date at this point was June 25th. Hopefully she's right.
I don't have mine yet, but I already know it's going to be worth it. |

Chips: 393 | | | Re: Need help on ASM Chips... I absolutely LOVE my ASM's and I think they were worth every penny and every second of wait time, (which for me was almost 5 months back when they were heavily backlogged with special CT orders.)
As for the other questions I think they have been answered. I would just add that Jim is Awesome and he has been known to allow CT members to get spots that aren't on the website even when there were no special GB's going. (One person even got a 312 with 3 different colors because he asked nicely.) I'm not saying it is a guarantee, but it definitely doesn't hurt to ask. |
