Firefighter Chips

Hello everybody.

My brother's a firefighter so I was thinking of making him some custom chips for his birthday. I think it'll be a great way for him and his LAFD firefighter buddies to relax at the station. His birthday is in August so I have time.

I was either gonna put them on the PI Clay Wallsons if I keep it simple or ceramics if the design becomes fancy.

Any ideas or brainstorming is appreciated!

Thanks for all the comments! I think I found the image I want to put on one side of the chip.

Let's use the PI Clay Wallsons so we can maximize the large round inlay size of the PI Clay.

Now, I'd like to design the denoms on the other side of the chip.

Any ideas for the fonts, colors? I think the denoms should have a metallic feel to them (brass/gold). Maybe we can retain the outer rim but it says the denom quantity (e.g. TWENTY FIVE CENTS - match the outer rim background color with an edgespot color?)

I think red and brass/gold should be used extensively. But I'd also like to incorporate the chip color and the edgespot color of the PI Clay Wallsons.

The denoms will be 25c (on orange chip), 50c (on blue chip), $1 (on white chip), $2 on (purple chip), $5 (on red chip), $10 (on black chip), $25 (on green chip).

Can I make this a friendly competition? Offer $50 to the winning design? I know I started the thread in the wrong forum...

Below are mockups by Snow, please review! I think they're awesome as is but any comments are welcome before I place the order.

Re: Firefighter Poker Chips Designs???

I don't recall ever seeing any with a fire theme, but if you are making them custom for your brother why not use his engine and company number and their logo?

I think the clays are the way to go for something classy with a simple inlay of the fire shield like these...

Maybe use their shield design with the denom incorporated in the middle.

IHMO the use of a different symbol for each denom (ie: fire hose = $1 and fire hydrant = $5) is kind of cheesy.

This could really turn out to be a cool chip set. Post some more specific info or a pic of their logo and I am sure we can mock something up pretty quickly.

Re: Firefighter Poker Chips Designs???

Yeah, you're right - I think a shield would be better. It'd look really classy.

We could put the major US and world fire department logos (London, Moscow, Sydney, Tokyo etc.). LAFD and FDNY come to mind. I'll go start looking for shields & emblems and see if I can find 6-7 different kinds, and maybe somebody can help me put those on mockups.

I don't think I can use his company no / station # because he has already been assigned to 4 different stations in LA the last two years so a generic set would be better.

Take some pictures of his fire station/emblem/badge/helmet, etc. and post 'em up. I'm in for some mockups.

Re: Firefighter Poker Chips Designs???

I've been working on a fire fighter chip theme. It went no where but I have some ideas.
Maltese Cross inlay, which you already have.
Have Denominations on the outer part of the cross.
Have progressing firefighter symbols:
Haligan, pickaxe, fire hydrant , Leatherhead, Nozzle, quint, ladder truck..etc.

Good luck

Re: Firefighter Poker Chips Designs???

I know I had seen some firehouse mockups on here before so I did a search. I'm not sure if these were the ones I had seen or not (I remember them differently, but I'm getting old, so who knows.) I thought I'd point you towards these anyway, for inspiration:

Mods, if this violates any rules, feel free to move this link to its proper location.

Re: Firefighter Chip - Help needed! $50 for best design/mockup

Thought I would give you a bump, can't beleive someone hasn't helped out with this yet.

When I get a chance I will mock something up and see what I can do.
