Need help on my final 2 chips (BCC)

Okay my fellow chipians

I am in the process of adding 2 more chips to my collection but need some advice from those who play a variation of poker games. My home games are always with family and close friends. Once in awhile we will have a small tourny where friends of friends are invited. When i designed my set, my #1 concern was to keep the set flexible for both tournies and cash games of various blind structures. We normally play $50-$100 buyin with occasional $150 tourny (rare but does happen). Any higher than this, we usually prefer to go to a casino

For a quick flash back, my BCC chip theme was based on my family siblings of 6 boys. Originally, the concept was to start at $1 and move up to $1000 making that 6 denominations to match my line of siblings. As of now, I am missing a $500 and $1000 chip. However, i just came to realize that based on my preferance and the people I play with, we really prefer to keep the denoms low whether we play cash or tournies. That said, I am seriously considering taking out the $500 and $1000.

So where do i fill in the extra 2 chips? I am considering a 25cent or 50 cent chip. What do you guys prefer?

2nd, a $2 or $2.5? Or a $10 / $20 chip?

i would go with the 500 and 1000, if u want to play small NL games just make the 25 dollar chip 25 cents.
and tourneys are better with starting stacks of like 1500 or 2000 that way u get to use all the different denoms

plus i wouldnt want to be the brother on the quarter chip.

Re: Need help on my final 2 chips (BCC)

If it were me I'd do:

Cash set
$1
$5
$20 new chip (Gray?)

Tournament Set
$25
$100
$500 new chip (Arc Yellow or White?)

You could if needed actually merge the sets but it's nice that they can be discrete. If you're feeling frisky you can add a plaque for $100 (cash) or $1000 (tournament).

I would say the $2.50, and a $20 if you want to keep them low then add them to the cash set.

But really if you wanted a tournament set I would add a 500 in there.

my 2 bits...

Re: Need help on my final 2 chips (BCC)

If you want to add 2 new chips to your setup, I would suggest this...

1) Whatever the small blind of your smallest cash game will be: .25 or .50

2) A 500 chip for tournaments. Use the 25/100/500 for the tournament stacks.

Sample Cash Game Starting Stack:
.25/.50 x 1210 = $4/$5
1 x 10 = $10
5 x 5 = $25
25 = ?
Total = ~$40 (adjust up or down with $5 & $25 chips)

Sample Tournament Starting Stack:
25 x 4 = T100
100 x 4 = T400
500 x 2 = T1000
Total = T1500

I don't see a reason to get a $20 chip when you already have a $25.

Re: Need help on my final 2 chips (BCC)

Given what you already own. I'd consider these

They both contain colors that you haven't used yet

If by chance you use the chocolate version...you must send me a sample so that I can look at it myself...I've considered this chip for my own set. However I use blue elsewhere in the set so I think that particular brown chip is out

Re: Need help on my final 2 chips (BCC)

Thanks all

It is a given that I will definitely use one of my chips as either a 25cent or a 50Cent. I am just not sure which to go for. A 25cent is, of course, more flexible but as time goes by I think they will most likely be obsolete.

My final chip will either be a $2/$2.5 Or a $10/$20. Not sure which is more handy? There is a possibility that I will have a $500 but based on what we play, it is not in high demand. It is also not that important for me because I can always add a plaque in there later on.

Any input is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Re: Need help on my final 2 chips (BCC)

Why not just add a non denom along with the other chip? It could be used as a .50¢ until it becomes "obsolete" then it could also be used as a 500 or other value in your tournaments.

Then you could still add a $2.50/$10/$20....which I think should be a $2.50, unless you think your cash game stakes will increase in the future, then it should be a $10.

Re: Need help on my final 2 chips (BCC)

I like the idea of adding a chip at both ends of your progression (25¢ and $500). It would dramatically increase the flexibility of the set without having any "odd" denoms stuck in the middle. Great for both tournaments and cash games.
