Chips: 498 | | | Heavier BCCs vs Proteges So I got my protege samples today.
I must say that these chips "feel" much nicer than my other BCCs (Grand Island samples, Commemorative Vineyards, NJ, and color samples).
My question is :: Is the difference in feel between these other BCCs due to the Cigar and Snifter mold or is it due to the heavier weight. (or both)
I anyone can speak to this difference I'd GREATLY appriceate it. I need to decide on custom heavy BCCs or the new SCS Paulsons. I love the feel of my protege samples....but would heavier BCCs on the FLAME MOLD have the sample feel?
Please please let me know what you think if you have your hands on both. Thank you |

Chips: 14,841 | | | Re: Heavier BCCs vs Proteges Depends on how you define feel. Feel as in texture or mass? The C&S mold is very smooth on the face, so if its texture, that would explain it and heavier flame mold would feel the same as lighter. Or if you mean the mass (which would include the pleasant sound), that's the weight talking.

I just realized I've never handled a flame mold BC...I have the cigar and snifter (too smooth for me), T-molds, suited mold, and sun mold...but no flame mold. I personally like the t-mold, nice texture and once broken in, smooth as silk.

The heavier BCC flame mold might be a little less smoothe than the Proteges, but not a tremendous difference.
I'm guessing that what your are point to with your post, in terms of how much you appreciate the "feel," is the heavier weight.
The flame mold, like the cigar and snifter mold, feels better to most people at the heavier weight. |

Chips: 1,715 | | | Re: Heavier BCCs vs Proteges I got to feel the Proteges for the first time last weekend. I have to say I prefer the flame mold regardless of weight because of the texture. They just feel like a clay should. A little break-in time and they are perfect. The t-mold is the nicest looking and feeling home mold to me.
Custom BCCs or SCS Paulsons? That's a tough choice. The SCS chips are going to feel and sound more like the lightweight samples you already have. I'd say go for the SCS Paulsons. It is an opportunity to get limited production, fabulously designed real Paulsons with colors, edge spots and a mold no other home chip will have. If you find out you can't live without the extra gram, they will be easy to unload. |

Chips: 14,841 | | | Re: Heavier BCCs vs Proteges Paulsons vary from 8.5+ up to 11+ depending on color, etc. BCCs probably are the same way. If anything they'll be virtually the same weight all in all.
