Does a heavier weight mean better stacking?

This is referring to the BCC light weight and heavier weight. I was just wondering if the heavy ones stack better. Conceptually it seems like they would. Does anyone know this?

Re: Does a heavier weight mean better stacking?

Flatness is the key, weight not so much. If the surface is slightly convex the chips will spin and wobble in stacks.

I am no authority but heaviness has nothing to do with how well chips stack. Its how flat the chips are and thier uniformity. Chips that are extremely flat (ie BJ's and Matsuis) can be stacked very high and not wobble or fall over(more stable). Uniform chips will also stack to same height from stack to stack and have a smoothness to the side of the stack. Some BCC chips like T molds blanks are very stackable too. I like heavier chips because I like the feel of a heavier chip and naturally the stacks are heavier too. When chips are warped they don't stack as well; they wiggle like jello and will lean to one side or the other. Some BCC chips sometimes have the label punched off center and can spin in the stack (spinners). I don't know how important stackablity really is because most player stack in stacks of 20 while playing and warped chips or spinners really aren't a factor. They are however very annoying to alot of people on this site. But no heavier chips don't necessarily stack better. I hope I haven't offended anyone. As I said I'm no authority but I do have alot of chips.

Re: Does a heavier weight mean better stacking?

ASMs stack to the moon, and they are fairly light by comparison to paulson & bcc heavy versions.

Re: Does a heavier weight mean better stacking?

I would also say flatness is the most importance follow by surface texiture/material. ABS plastic can be flat but slippery.

A level table is key.

I agree here on this. Just take the stackability of FC's, Sopranos' or SD's versus your 11.5 DIce chips. They stack so much better, yet weigh less. It's all about surface texture with these.

Re: Does a heavier weight mean better stacking?

My plastic interlocking chips are neither heavy nor smooth....yet they stick together quite well.
