Here's our take- from someone who is arguably a contender with them--
We just finished an in depth analysis of chipcos and our ceramics--
Here's what we found
1-60- 70 per cent of chipco samples reviewed - the print was slightly crisper then ours.
2- 30-40 per cent we at least match their print quality. Alot has to do with artwork.
For the samples we printed which we had their artwork- I give chipco a SLIGHT- VERY SLIGHT- advantage ( this is based using a 10x loop for comparison)
3- The white ring they use causes many more off centered printed chips.
No getting around this- its hit and miss with them. Sometimes theyre on the money- sometimes it sticks out like a sore thumb
4- Their blanks feel different- their texture or surface is a finer then Sunfly blanks- not that we think it's better- its just different
5- Sunfly blanks on a random sampling per 200 chips will yield much fewer spinners
6- Text on edge- bout the same- our variance and Sunflys is about the same
( based on tenths of MM runout from dead centerline of the text on edge
7- cost. Sunfly is alot less then Chipco. While Chipco has moved somewhat on their pricing they still lag China....and many US companies. This is to be expected on any US produced product however we would expect quality to match price- I dont feel this is the case- this is MY opinion
8- Customer Service- hard to say- I havnt heard any bad things about their customer service. Not sure where they stand on alot of off centered orders weve seen- have to wait for someon on here who got some off centered images to comment
But if they DO replace off-centered images with good ones- it tells me it COULD have been done in the beginning so I would thing QC may be th shortcoming
My two cents from someone who does this for a living
Tried to be as unbiased as I could
