Chipcos are the "Paulson" of ceramic chips.
Their only draw back is price (and that you have to have CI on the chip)

Not true. Somehow TheChipLab isn't required to get the CI on their chips. My Chipcos don't have them.

How true. Paulson is shipping warped chips lately and Chipco is shipping a higher than normal amount of spinners.

Re: Chipco vs. Sun Fly

I ordered a sample pack from Mr. Chips last week.

I contacted Gene at ABC and he wouldn't tell me what kind of chips he uses. Anyone know if it is Sun Fly?

Not sure- and we have mixed feelings on that- as a manufacturer most of us do NOT want to readily divulge who our factories are and suppliers--
with ceramic chips- we helped develop the reputation of this blank- along with the paramount person involved which was Steve at Br Pro- and personally- I feel if someone is ordering ceramics they SHOULD be entitled to know what blank the chips go on as its such an important piece of information in one's decision making.

This is MY opinion on this- and given the quality and service from ABC I think if youre considering using him for your chips you will not make bad decision.

With that said- there are two blank manufacturers overseas- one company whose blanks are crap- and the 2nd being Sunfly. Thats it. There could be 20 people selling ceramic chips and blanks in China- but pretty much thats where theyre coming from.

The one company STILL continues to use the Nevada Jack imagery and weve heard has even sold knockoffs of Jim's chips to the overseas market.

They even sent me samples touting that they make that chip. We have been trying to get their advertising yanked from Alibaba for this but good luck!

If you do a search on Alibaba for ceramic poker chips you'll see who the leaders are.

The actual 2nd factory only does orders of 50,000+ per image- so that leaves Sunfly.

While I am rambling- alot of people dont realize we have preferential pricing from Sun- meaning we can compete with them on the SAME product they make because of this.

I didnt mean to make this about me- sorry- just trying to offer some information that alot of people dont get to see without wading through 100's of posts.

Order samples- see what members say- you wont make a bad decision no matter which way you go

Probably only he knows. That said, his chips are very similar to Sunfly, especially the smooth variety. After he uses up all of the textured blanks, thats it. All orders from then on will be on smooth blanks.

I agree completely. I have yet to handle a clay chip that I liked better than a Paulson, or a ceramic that I like better than a Chipco. And it's not even close.

Yes there are some people who see it differently, but not me. That's why the sample reccomendation is so important.

Re: Chipco vs. Sun Fly

Well I have ordered samples from just about everyone out there both clay and ceramic (over 200 sample chips in all). My personal preference for ceramic is chipco. In fact I just got my order of 1000 custom chips from homepokerchips.com. I love my new chips (I would post pic's but I am ashamed to say I dont know how, I have tried a couple of times and failed). The printing is great, very sharp images, no bleeding, and no spinners not one in the whole order. Joe is right about some of the images being a little off center with the white ring, however I have also observed this in some of the other samples I have gotten from other companys. Joe is also right that chipco is the most expensive ceramic out there. Personally I like the way chipcos look, feel, stack, and shuffel when I compaired them to other ceramics from other companys. As far as customer service goes Dave over at homepokerchips is great. I delt with him by phone mostly and from start to finish with my order took about 4 weeks or so (start to finish meaning "hi Dave I want to buy some chips" to "sign here please, thank you here is you package"). Its been said before, but buy sample and compair. Also buying samples can tell you more then if you like the chips or not. It can also give you a look into what kind of service you will recive from the company you order from without spending $500 or more. I ordered sample chips from 8 different companys for this very reason. The results were mixed. Some companys were great, others got the orders wrong, some took forever to deliver, some shorted me on the samples or didnt give me the right samples. Some even promised to send extra chips to make up for the mistake but then didnt follow through. Needless to say (but ofcourse i will say it anyway) I wont be doing business with the companys that had poor service and will insted be doing business with the companys that have great service. Joe was right about one other thing, if you have good art work and go with a company with a good rep I think you will be pleased with the result. Well thats my 2 pennys, good luck with your chips. Sal
