ASM help

I am thinking about getting some custom ASM and needed some input from the experts..
1. Whats the story with day-glo colors? I read somewhere that ASM discourages using those colors as a base as they are fragile..anyone have any experience with this good or bad?
2. Do they need to be oiled when new?
3. I have used the poker chips factory and the one on pokerchips.com and there seems to be some discrepancies between the two when it comes to asm designs...which one is more accurate or will asm pretty much do anything?
4. I saw pricing somewhere but I can't find it now...more edgespots higher the pricing right?
5. How long can I expect to wait...I have read 20+ weeks but everyone thinks the wait is worth it...that being said if I order should I make a LARGE order since it takes so long? in other words do reprints take as long as your first order?
6. I was thinking about using some bellagio inspired colors...for instance blue/imperial blue....do combinations of similar colors "wash" together or do they still stand out?

I am trying to get an ASM sample now...if anyone has some extra I would much appreciate it...thanks for everyone's help and hopefully i can figure out how to post my mockups..hmmm...

Day glow colors are great.

pricing for 4d14 is apporx $1.45 each, shipping once artwork approved at least 20 weeks. But you will have to check with ASM to see which edge spot combos are available as the group buy is now over and those options may no longer be available.

I personally would not use any colors that are similar, contrast is the best. Forget proper color theory as you read in the art books.

Click on my links below to see my day glow color chips and all 20 designs I had done last year during the two group buys....this will keep you busy for a few minutes...

Re: ASM help

1. day-glo colors have no brass flakes in them and are somewhat lighter than regular colors. They prefer you don't use them for base colors since they are more brittle (not fragile!) and can chip more easily. There are some CTers who have DG base colors in their sets and report no such problems. Spacemonkey is the one with the oldest set I can think of with a DG base if you want to ask someone about longevity.

2. No, they don't NEED to be oiled, but they certainly look a LOT better. ASM has been oiling them for CTers prior to shipping, I'm pretty sure they still are.

3. The chip factory is a more accurate representation of how the actual chips will look. The only styles available right now are shown here: http://www.pokerchips.com/chips/chips_styles.html

4. http://www.pokerchips.com/chips/chips_styles.html

5. Probably 12-16 weeks. The 20 week+ lead time was due to the HUGE amount of orders they got from CTers when the special spot buy happened. My last order was placed 11/6 and arrived around 2/6 with several hundred chips.

6. Similar colors do not work well generally. Even green & imp blue are too close in color and it ends up looking solid (see my $25 casino antarctica chip). Stay away from that idea.

Re: ASM help

I am thinking of having an ohio state theme color chip (thought about getting a whole set but I'd only have 4 colors to work with and it would get boring)..would gray/white edgespots together be a bad idea?

Re: ASM help

Hmm, I'm not quite sure how that would look. You're thinking of like a red 3d14 with white & grey for the spot colors? it would be pretty subtle.

Re: ASM help

I have a blue 3d14 chip in my set that has grey/white as the spot colors and I think it looks excellent. I wouldn't shy away from that combo...
