Chips: 116 | | | cigar & snifter & other sidepot questions I have a few questions and comments after looking through sidepot.com's website...
1) The cigar & snifter mold - does sidepot own this or could you go through BCC to get this as i thought was possible? Sidepot's website makes it sound like they own the mold
2) While the website does not say, i assume their archetype ceramics are chipco chips. What is more interesting is the description of their custom "epiphany" ceramics, as being less quality than their "archetype"
Quoted from the website: "Q. Are the Epiphany chips “casino-quality”? A. Not by our standards, and we know “casino-quality” pretty well as our primary business is selling chips by the same manufacturers that make chips for Las Vegas casinos today. The Epiphany’s are nice chips, but we consider them “2nd tier ceramics” as they are not carried in any major casinos today, nor would they be due primarily to durability (a higher propensity to chip than our Archetypes), print image clarity, and security issues. There are a few companies out there that sell ceramic chips of comparable quality to these Epiphany’s and deceivingly proclaim them to be “casino-quality”. We prefer to be more upfront and honest about the shortfalls of 2nd tier ceramics chips, but also point out that they represent a good value proposition given the considerable cost difference to customize."
These are interesting words, and an interesting sales approach as well. Wondering how others feel regarding this. Does anyone know what ceramic blank they use? Is the website shooting themselves in the foot or speaking the truth about their "2nd tier ceramics"?? |

Chips: 444 | | | Re: cigar & snifter & other sidepot questions As to (1) I am pretty sure Sidepot owns the mold. I don't think BCC will let anyone else use it. |

| this is what makes me question their approach... If you put down more coin for the "better stuff" you have to leave their website and find someone who lets you customize the "good stuff"... they do not allow you to customize their "good stuff" only their "2nd tier" chips. |

They're putting the facts (as they see them) out there and letting you decide. What more could you ask for? |

Chips: 444 | | | Re: cigar & snifter & other sidepot questions Sidepot also offers a money back guarantee if you are not happy which is pretty impressive. Stephan is also very active on this forum and I am sure would be willing to respond to all of your questions directly, and publicly. |

Chips: 116 | | | Re: cigar & snifter & other sidepot questions I think it is great that they are honest about their perspective (i would hesitate to call them facts however) - they are being very upfront with their perspective and i applaud them for that.
It just really struck me as bold, and you don't often find this honest boldness in advertising.
I also know there are others on here who would have a different perspective, and this would make for good discussion. |

Chips: 116 | | | Re: cigar & snifter & other sidepot questions Personally my perspective is probably right in line with sidepots, as i prefer chipcos, and just spent the coin for custom chipcos. (assuming they are referring to chipcos - i did not find a spot where they named chipco) |

I would too. That's why I put "as they see them" in parentheses.
