Anyway, I plunked down my deposit to BC yesterday.
So, am I spoiled? Am I ruined for all chip-buying eternity? |
I too thought I had stumbled into the sweetest deal at the best possible time. Instead of figuring out how to best fill in my St. Jo's eBay set, I could instead use them as a down on my second ever truly customized set of quality chips

.
Seeing as my first personalized set of 400 Bud Jones hot-stamped suited chips now shows up in the bargain bin at Walmart for $19.99 (I paid $200 in 1997

), I figured I was due.
I had been away from the confines of chip nerd-dom for a few years, so I was unaware of the custom ASM options until very recently. After reading a few reviews, I was not impressed enough to justify the cost for custom clays. I had resigned myself to building a Frankenstein set of retired casino Paulson's

, but this BC offer saved me from having to do so.
Have we been spoiled? Perhaps. As others have pointed out, this may have simply been chip-lust coinciding with an orchestrated reduction in cost per unit. Are we ruined? IMO, not hardly. Everyone stumbles into a monster in the BB from time to time. Hopefully a side effect will be a step-up in quality and options from the other companies (then they'll get our dough too

). Will we ever see such a deal again? I sure hope so; I anticipate a re-load and some cash denom's in my future!
P.S. I received a non-commital "Your art's with the designers for proofs - you should get an email soon" from Dave Endy this past Monday. Some news is better than none, I guess. I placed my deposit on 28-Dec.
